Hi mums with older kids :)

What did/do you prefer? children close together in age or with a bigger age gap between then?
I know we can't always choose :)

i have 14 years and a week between my 2 kids and i love it, it was planned that way too

there is 17 years betwee me and my brother (totally unplanned!)
There will (hopefully) be a 5 year age gap between OH's son and our little one which i think will be nice for his son

There is 5 and half years between Jess and Aimee and I thinks it a much better age gap than Aimee and Nathan. It has good and bad points but it was sooo much easier in a lot of ways. Jess was at school so I had all day with Aimee, she was old enough to just go back to sleep if Aimee woke her in the night, Jess could help out a lot with the baby and never seemed to get jealous. In other ways though I felt like I was starting all over again! I never had any baby things left from Jess, I was back at work and used to getting a full nights sleep and basically doing what I wanted so it did hit me quite hard cos I'd forgot what babies were like.

There will be 6 years in between my son and this little one, I would have loved a smaller age gap but it wasn't possible ( had to meet Mr Right first )
But now im beggining to think that if i ever have anymore children i will also be leaving a big age gap, i guess i get to watch harrison grow up and go to school then have all my time to do it all again with this little one.

People say " you just have him in full time school why have another, your mad"
But all i ever wanted to be was a mummy and i can't imagine not looking after a little one..

i wanted a 4 year age gap between Beth and this LO, but it just wasnt the right time so we didnt bother TTC then. We decided when she went to school we would try for another one (i wanted a bit of a rest before i had another kid  ) and it took us about 8 months to get preggers so we'll have a 6 and a half year age gap which isnt to bad!

Beths fantastic at home, she hardly takes any looking after really, so i feel like i can have the full newborn experience again which im really looking forward too! (my SIL had 2 kids in 2 years  and i think and i think she missed out a bit) And shes already said she wants to help with the baby, and i think i'll probably appreciate her help, so im quite happy with the gap we've got!

there is 7 1/2 years between my two, Paris was unplanned but Harrison was planned.

Thanks everyone. Just wondering about it as I have a little girl and we have had a difficult time until recently - was ill after the birth :( OH made a comment the other day that if we didn't have another one sooner rather than later he wasn't sure if I would want to do it all over again. Just started me thinking.

I'm going to have a 12 year age gap between my 2 when this LO comes along. Hopefully it will work out well and having a much older child will be a big help as he can look after himself (most of the time!) with out needing his Mum to do everything for him.

12 years is cool 8) Theres 12 years between me and my brother and we're really close :D I didnt get on with him much when i was a teenager cos i was doing teenager things and he was getting married and having kids,(we just didnt have much in common at the time) but now we're both settled down and we get on great :) And he should be a great help to you when bubba comes along

There's 17 years 5 months gap between my two boys. It wasn't planned that way as George was a late little surprise but it's worked out just great. My eldest son helps out from time to time, loves playing with his baby brother, and hasn't complained once about being woken at night. (Mind you I think having an Ipod glued to his ears helps! LOL).

I would quite like another child but not sure if I can now due to my age. Ideally I'd like to have 2 1/2 years gap max between George and the next baby.

10 year age gap here. Not planned that way but worked out like that because of going to uni etc

there isa year and half between Dani and Stacey and then 12 and half between Staey and Jack, i love it the way it is, the girls sploil jack and it is nice having them to help out.

Theres a 3 year age gap between my two and it works out fine as hes at pre school and she gets her time with me when hes at school. She will be a year in august and he will be at school after that happens so its all worked out fine!

There was 10.5 months between my 1st and 2cd, then 18 month beween my 2cd and 3rd!
I wouldnt change it for the world, they are all close but I always said I would love another when they are older, like say 10 years between 3rd and 4th! But thats changed lol there will be nearly 7 years so not too much difference, I just would have liked teenagers with a LO I guess? One extreme to the other with me lol!

I've got a 9.5yr age gap between my two and it's great. We didn't plan it that way it's just the way it worked out.

I really do love it. DD and I have such a close relationship. I loved the time we had to ourselves. I'm very strict though and it doesn't go too much towards friendship rather than parenting. She really enjoyed my pregnancy and now DS as a baby.

Now I love saying "the children". :D

I have a 7 year old and we are ttc number 2.Number 1 was unplanned and theres never been the right time to have another until last year when we suddenyl though, yes, we want to add to our family, and I think it will be great for our son if he has a sibling. There is 10 years between me and my brother and we get along great!

With my children, there won't be much of an age gap!

1 year and 3 days providing the girls come on time.
I have a feeling they're gonna come that extra 3 days early, on G&J's birthday! :D

there is a year and 2 weeks between my 1st and second and a year and 2 weeks between my 2nd and third and 16 months between my 3rd and 4th, when i have this baby there will be 21 months between my 4th and this one, and i would'nt change any of it :)

I'm not a Mum with ANY children just yet lol :oops: But my Mum had;

Me (Sept '87), 20 yrs
Sam (sadly born sleeping in Jan '88 or '89), would have been 18
Joe (Feb '90), 17 yrs
Ryan (Mar '95), 13 yrs

I love our age gaps, I have brilliant relationships with both my brothers. xx
