Advice needed

Hi, my last period was the 8th April 2017. So according to dates i should be nearly 7 weeks. I was having some tummy pains and had to go to hospital to get checked. I had a scan (internal & external) and everything was in the right place. The doctor said she could see something but wasnt sure it was a heartbeat. So they have booked me in for 10 days time for another scan. Im really worried as ive seen so many threads and people have seen the heartbeat and im terrified something is wrong. The doctor said that she thinks i could possibly be earlier than than i thought & thats why it isnt so noticeable? Its my first pregnancy and i dont understans why they date from the first day of my last period? As i was likely to have concieved 2 weeks after that? So would i be 2 weeks earlier than i thought so 4/5 weeks instead of 6/7 weeks? And thats why they wouldnt have seen a heartbeat? Im so confused full with worry! Please help.

Try not to worry too much at this stage flowerpetal sounds like you don't have any cause for concern.

It is all a bit weird how they date pregnancy as you are correct, in theory you're pregnant for two weeks before you even conceive, as your body is very busy getting ready to get pregnant for two weeks. It is then usually around another two weeks until you can get a positive prenanacy test, so by the time you find out you're already around 4 weeks pregnant. However, some people ovulate late in their cycle, implantation can take time etc so it really isn't an exact science. By my LMP I'm due 23 December, but I ovulate late so I'm not due until 30 December (I've had this confirmed by early scans and it was exactly how it was with my daughter).

Try not to worry yourself too much, I'm sure everything will be just dandy when you go for your scan in 10 days x

As babypickle says it's not an exact science unless you can pinpoint ov. I know for a fact I ovulated a week late so when I was in your situation with my current pregnancy I was anticipating not being able to see a HB and them dating me earlier than the LMP calculation.

It'll be a hard 10 days but try to keep yourself busy and try and stay positive. Fx you've got a shy bean x
