When I was in work this morning I thought I was going to pass out. I had just served a customer and suddenly felt what i can only describe as the blood draining away from my body, the room then starting shaking in front of me (a bit like when you lie in bed and close your eyes after having a fair few to drink) and I felt very sick and thought I was going to land up on the floor.
Only time Ive ever experienced this was when I cut through my finger and passed out in my kitchen.

For the rest of the day Ive not felt right, and at one point I felt my pulse in my neck which I thought was a bit weak and didnt seem to be as fast as usual. When I got home from work I was sat on the arm of the sofa and was feeling breathless, almost as though I had something crushing my chest.
My mother and Ian have both kept on for me to contact my midwife, I have tried but her phone is diverting straight to answerphone, and the other three midwives in the team Im under all have their phones switched off. I rang my mw back and left a message asking her to contact me but that was an hour ago and I havent heard anything since

Does anyone have any idea why I could be feeling like this? Do you think I need to be checked over asap or will I be ok to leave it until my mw appointment first thing thursday morning?

Baby seems to be fine, went a bit quiet this afternoon but has just had a mad few minutes of kicking and generally squirming around

this is the exact same thing that happened to me last night hun. I phoned the delivery suite for advice as i knew i wouldnt be able to get hold of my midwives.

All they said to me was take a couple of paracetamol and see how i felt in an hour. I felt a bit better so i didnt bother phoning them back.

I would phone your delivery quite and see what they say hun, you might get a better response than i did.

Fingers crossed this passes i know how horrible and scary it is.

I gave up on trying to get hold of my team of midwives, three of them had phones switched off and the other went to answerphone. I left a message but 2 hours later after not hearing anything I rang NHS direct who wanted to send me an ambulance and 'blue light' me into hospital as they reckoned being pregnant puts you at higher risk of cardiac problems and obviously though I could be having a heart attack.
Decided to refuse the ambulance and have my OH to take me, got there and after taking my BP which was higher than usual they took bloods and wanted a ward doctor to discuss them with me when the results came back 40 minutes later. Got called through to cubicle and then sent back to waiting room as doctor was obviously busy, but when I asked if my bloods were dodgy the nurse who sent me out agreed. They eventually came out to me at about 12.30-1am with a wheelchair and took me up to the ward as they were worried that the syptoms could have been a blood clot on my lungs, after having my BP checked twice up there and a consultant (i think) coming to see me at about 3am I had my chest examined and a heart trace done and was discharged at 4am. They found a heart murmur which is nothing to worry about but he said that the best place for me would be the comfort of my own bed (as opposed to the trolley I was laying on)
Ive been told to rest today and in future if I feel faint I am to sit on the floor as its our body's way of telling us that we need to sit/lay down. Think I will be telling work that I need to get plenty of rest and therefore I cant do some of the shifts they keep giving me (5-10.30pm and then 7am-4pm the following day) as Im obviously not getting enough rest in between them.

sorry to hear this hun hope your ok now, i had another episode last night but i was already in bed so i just had a drink and tried to ignore it, i cant believe the reponse you got as all i got was take some paracetamol and rest!! :o

God i bet that was a bit scary! Glad you are ok.. definately your body telling you to rest up a bit now!

Hey hun that has happened to me three times now, the first i nearly fell down the stairs as it happened as i was walking down the stairs and was right at the top. i had to throw myself back up and layed on the landing looking like a right baboon!
The second and third i was sat on the toilet having a wee! the second time wasnt as bad as the third where i think i either fell or crawled off the toilet and woke up hours later asleep on the floor! Its the weirdest thing! i actually felt it coming on yesterday too but mannaged to steady myself.
Its like suddely you get all hot and sweaty and your head floats off into the sky. then you start shaking and feel so weak you cant even move your fingers. your eyes close and you start falling from upright position then afterwards i get tingley fingers and abit of a headache. how you described it "all your blood draining from your body" is exactly how it feels and you just feel helpless and limp. its awful. i got told by my middy it was caused by my low blood preasure and theres nothing i can do about it  hope you dont experience it again hun and feel better soon

hi hun
this has happened to me a few times, at 28 weeks they took my bloods and discovered i had a HB of 10 (suppose to be around 13 and above)
I have fainted quite alot in work so much so that they wheeled me out in a wheel chair to my husband hehe (bit embarressing going through the hospital in my uniform in a wheel chair some of the patients looked a little confused hehe) Am on iorn tablets now and feel a little less faint.
Am glad they are looking after you, make sure you rest get a note from your doctor and take some time off to rest.
hope you feel batter soon

Whats HB????

its your blood levels. (the protien in red blood cells that carries oxygen) it stands for hemaglobin and its what they use to check for anemia or low blood count
they check this at your routine bloods at the begining of your pregnancy and usually at 28 weeks but i have the feeling they only did mine because of the amount of fainting and breathlessness i had
