My DH has a daughter from a previous relationship. She is 11 and he hasn't been allowed to see her from she was under 2. Not his decision but his evil ex. He is paying £287 a month, deducted straight from his wages, for a child he doesn't see. His wage isn't that high and when this is taken, then pay rent, car and living expenses he is left with less that what he pays each month for a child he hasn't seen in over 9 years. Don't get me wrong he knows he has to pay maintenance but the amount is crazy. Why should this child get more than our child? His daughter's mother is married now and therefore is getting support from her husband AND my husband lol

We were then told that when our baby came along and his circumstances changed that this amount would change. Yesterday that notification came through and it hasn't changed by one single penny!!! The last appeal letter sent by CSA asked for my wage slips which we so stupidly sent to them. So it looks like my wages are being taken into consideration even though this child has nothing to do with me. I haven't even met her. In hindsight we shouldn't have sent my wage slips. DH is going to phone and find out exactly what is going on.

Rant over. Just had to get it off my chest. I am sooooooooo cross. :wall2::wall2::wall2::wall2:

Didn't want to read and run.. No experience of this so can't advise really but just another prime example if uk's messed up system! Makes me so angry hearing stuff like that xxxx

:hugs: thats awful hun, i have no experience or idea about these things but hope you can get it sorted. must be horrible for him not being able to see his daughter too :hugs: xx

what does he earn a week babe???? x let me work out for you x

The csa are a useless bunch of *******s tbh (pardon my french). My ex husband has been "chased" by them since January 2011 and since then I have received a whopping 3 payments from him, he wriggles free of payments everytime one way or another, mainly because he works for friends who help him cheat the system.

The csa are always "investigating" "threatening prosecution" and "looking into things" yet nothing ever gets done.

This ******* ex of mine is the father of my 3 children and bare in mind he has no contact with them by his own choice, he "doesn't have time" and he has never once bought them a Birthday or Christmas present since we split 6 years ago, not even a card!

On the other hand my partner of 5 years has a Daughter by his ex, another one of those ex's who are "on the pill" and "accidentally get pregnant". He has done the honourable thing and always been a top class Dad, we have her every single School Holidays for the whole duration and he spends stupid amounts of money on her for Christmas and Birthdays. Yet she got the csa onto him and lo and behold within a 2 weeks they were threatening prosecution! remember my ex has been chased for nearly 2 years (and he earns £700 ish a week!) and he has never once been threatened prosectution!

To cut a long story short, there system is screwed, they offer a terrible service, they punish the good ones and generally cant do sweet F A to the bad ones.

I do know one thing, they certainly CANNOT take you earnings into account. It basically means, if your husband didn't work and yet you earned 1 million pound a week they still couldn't take a penny off him as all the earnings are yours.

Also what they CAN take into account is working tax credit. If it is in your hubbies name then GET IT SWITCHED INTO YOURS ASAP! they will actually use this as his "income". That basically means that they are using money that is given to your hubby for your family to pay for his ex!!! it totally sucks donkey balls!

You must contact them and tell them they need to re-assess you as you accidentally popped your wage slips into the envelope, do that after you have changed the working family tax credit into your name ofc.

Sorry if I come across aggressive but the csa are one subject that really makes my blood boil! they are totally incompetent and if you do a google search you will see how many family's they have destroyed. csahell.com being one of the main sites.

Best of luck xx

omg how much...
I wanted to get the csa to get fob to pay but in the end its just too much hassle and im ok on my own.

I can't help but just wanted to say this is disgusting! my mum had to chase my dad for support from when I was about 6 and even after CSa got their act together and got him in court my mum only got awarded £140 a month for 2 kids!!! ...and CSa didn't ask for any more

the more I learn about our gov and associated people the more I hate!
xx

CSA are B*******
We had a similar situation when T was born, promised that a full assessment would be done and it wasn't, we sent all our payslips in always have done asfter they tried getting ridiculous amounts from him when ex and now hubby earn more than us, although her OH doesn't seem to factor into things at all, we had to prove that DH was earning more than me and therefore contributing more than me towards the house and running, it doesn't help that the offices seem to be in entirely different parts of the country and neither know what the other does :hugs:

For a start the first 15% should be protected for you dependant so that should have made a difference and as far as in aware your wages shouldn't come into it?? sounds wrong to me xx

Omg that's awful!! I'm entitled to £27 a week from fob (though I don't get it) and he earns £300 a week. Your income doesn't count at all so they need to reevaluate it, and it should 100% be lowered when there is other children involved. Get on to them because they have fucked up big time!

DH phoned them today and they are assessing the thing AGAIN. He asked about my wages and was told they only asked to make sure I'm not earning ridiculous amounts of money, which I'm not!! Even at that my wages shouldn't be a factor. They've also told him that they would take into consideration that DH had been paying the full amount since LO was born. We MIGHT be getting somewhere BGT I won't hold my breath.

Thanks again for all ur help girls xxx

Fingers crossed they do something about it Hun.
