I'll keep it brief because little man will be waking any time for boobie feed
Waters went Thurday night at 11.45pm as I was in the kitchen making rice pudding!
Went to bed and wasnt 100% sur that i hadnt just pee'd myself.
The next day I started with some tightenings, nothing regular and some more painful than others. Called the hospital who told me to come in that night. We got theree around 9pm and it was confirmed that most of the water had gone but there was still some in there. Had an extremely painful cannula inserted after two attempts. They couldnt get it in the back of my hand so it had to go up the side of my wrist - ouch.
Kept in overnight, put on the monitor frequently.
Saturday morning I still wasnt contracting in a pattern so waited for a room in delivery to start the induction.
I couldnt have my water birth as I was now classed as 'prolonged rupture of membranes'.
Saturday night, very late, a room became available. Was put on the monitor again and it looked like my contractions wer picking up on their own, so we held off with the pitocin.
More water went.
Contractions still not close enough so the pitocin drip was started.
Had a beautiful epi, not quite 100% numb, could still feel the pressure but it was great.
Went from 3-10cm within 2 hours and with 5 pushes baby arrived.
No stitches, no problems, great birth experience.
He was born just after 7 am weighing 7llbs exactly.
He's so perfect, can't stop looking at him.
The mw was soo lovely, stayed with me a lot, didn't mind my constant neurotic questions "is he ok?", "am I ok?" etc etc. She was very reassuring and calm. She completely understood my deep birth anxieties after last time and was uber patient with me. So calm and perfectly matched to be my mw.
All in all, a pleasureable experience x
