A bit of fun - baby names!

I'm a history geek hence the names more popular in the 40s other then Elizabeth that for my step mum and owien is Welsh version of owen[/QUOTE]

I'm a massive history nerd. I have a history degree. Our names though are Ronan which is a mercenary samurai and Roma after our honeymoon to Rome. I love different names =)

My husband and I are a tad bit geeky so superhero middle names would be awesome!

We are science and sci-if geeks, so I suspect there will be a theme for us. Isaac is already a possibility but for a middle name.

I suggested several Star Trek themed ones as a joke - we have agreed that if family members keep throwing in their opinions without asking that we’ll pretend we are using a Klingon name and watch them freak out
Love it my family already know without me telling them they have no say lol I've told my sister our name picks because she knows we are ttc and she really likes them.

I'm planning in doing a history degree in a few years it can wait till we have had our babies but abit nervous about it because I mainly focus on the 1940s and living history of that time and don't know as much about the rest of history but I suppose I will learn

I did my degree after having my daughter. I specialised in social history during the First World War. I did about std's and prostitutes 😂 there's an element of choice in the topics you do. We covered so much other than ancient history. I learnt so much lol x

Any ideas for a middle name for Matilda?

Personally I’m really not keen when parents just give their child a random name for a middle name. To me a middle name should be after a family member. Like a grandparent etc.
What was your nans name or even middle name? You could use that as a middle name to go with Matilda

We are doing this, but it will be their parents name

So if its a boy (find out tomoz) then its middle name will be Ian, which is also my dads name, so that was an easy choice and if its a girl Victoria - no one really cares about the middle name, so that was an easy choice <3

We still cant bl**dy agree on a boy name, which is annoying as i am 99% sure i am carrying a boy. Joshua was also top fave with me, but the oh isnt so keen and i want him to be fully on-board, so the other options are Max, Alfie or Riley.

Girls name, easy - Rosie and if we have two girls, which i doubt, then Jessica <3

Lol Baby Worf 😂😂 I knew some who named their son Reece after Kyle Reece.

Haha Worf!! 😂 I suggested Zephram (as in Cochrane) as our joke name, but the husband isn’t very good at bluffing so I don’t think the joke will work

Oh that’s good! I was sat down by my SIL and forced to promise I wouldn’t ‘steal’ her baby names... when she told me they were AWFUL so I had no problem agreeing to that  I haven’t really spoken to anyone about potential names, not even friends. A few have said they’d like Aurora for a girl, shortened to Rory, but it’s not really my kind of thing.

My cousin recently had a baby and they didn’t name him until the last possible day they had to register him.. I was like, you’ve had nine months to think about this, he was planned, they knew the gender in advance, how did you not even have a short list?! They just called him ‘baby’, much to the confusion of their older children.

A bit strange how they couldn't come up with a name Looking to get a book of baby names to try to figure out my girl's middle name!

That's mad how they couldn't come up with a name lol. We have had name a picked out since before we were ttc because we knew we wanted kids and if we heard a name we liked we would tell each other just struggling to have a 2nd boys name can't think of one because I want Welsh names but they will be English and there is no chance in hell anyone would say the 2 names I really want properly and it would drive me totally insane

I love the name Victoria, that was in my shortlist for girls names  I would prefer it to be shortened to tori though instead of Vicky and I just don’t think realistically that would happen! I do like the idea of using family member names like parents and grandparents as middle names, I think it stops some of the older names from dying out, in a way x

Hence why i would have my son's name as James after my grandfather. Might have Isobelle as a middle name for a girl after my great grandmother

It took us until the last possible day to 100% decide on our first's name. We started calling him his name for a day or so then told people his name the day he was registered at almost 6 weeks. It's an important decision and you have to get it right. For us we had conflicting opinions so it was hard to agree. We had it narrowed down to two. One was my husbands preferred choice and the other mine. People were really rude to us when the baby still didn't have a name at 5 weeks old, saying it was cruel etc. (I found that quite shocking!) but we took our time and made the right decision in the end. It makes no difference that he didn't have a name for five/six weeks and in fact I find it cute that he was Baby for that time.

It’s fair enough needing time to decide and having a few ideas to work with. You’re right, it is an important decision. I think it was the fact that the other kids were confused that made it difficult - it’s not cruel, it just seemed odd to not have any idea at all.

I never used to like my name, but I like classic English names now so I now like it lol. If you name her Victoria she will 100% be called Vicky and it will be spelt in a million ways as well  the worst is when you end an email with Vicky and they address you back as Vicki or Vikki :wall2: whyyyyy!!! lol. I did know a Victoria called Tori though, so you can make it stick

I don't think that's cruel at all, like you say you want to get it right and at the end of the day its the name they will have forever. I do hope we decide quickly though

My DH really likes Bonnie for a girls name and it was actually our first choice when I was pregnant with my DS. However I now really like Pearl. Just can’t think of middle names to go with either.... Hubby needs convincing on Pearl.

For a boy, we both like Zachery. Although I really like Frazer and Grayson but DH said absolutely not!

Pearl is a nice name. I like the name Matilda but like you stuck for a middle name!

Bonnie is a lovely name!

I really like the name Jack for a boy, but it seems to be really popular at the moment.

Apple middle names are a struggle.

Rosie when I had my little boy we had already agreed on a name but from the moment he was born I had a sudden urge to call him Jack. Lovely name. In the end we stuck with our first choice though as Jack wasn’t on our shortlist so hubby was confused *♀️

I like Matthew James for a boy. I like Matilda or Olivia for a girl's name but leaning towards Matilda!
