Just had our second scan which has confirmed I am 8 weeks in - saw the yolk sack and the heart beating which was surreal! Consultant says all is well, and he's not worried about me feeling sick all the time - just told me to eat what I feel I can, when I can. He's also not worried that I have lost 3lbs in the past 2 weeks, so that's peace of mind for me. Starting to feel a little less anxious now :) Next scan in 4 weeks time - will feel like a long time coming round!

Glad everything is OK. Nothing like hearing a heartbeat is there?

Congratulations. Im 8 weeks and had my scan recently and it brought a tear to my eye to see the little heartbeat flicker like a little light. It made it real for me too.
Im too waiting for my 12 weeks scan and not sure but do they send you a letter with a date?

lert me know when your next scan is hun. x

Thanks for the replies guys :D

Seems like every day is going to drag until week 12! At least it will if this horrible nausea continues :(

Joslyn: I have absolutley no idea how it all works. I have regsitered with the GP last week and she told me that the mid wife should be in touch around week 10. However, we are under a private consultant who has done the 6 week and 8 week scans for us, so I'll just ring his secretary about week 10 and book in the 12 week scan.

Glad everything is ok! You are very lucky too........... I had a scan at 8+6 and had to wait until I was 20wks for my next one! Seemed forever away!!

its awesome the scan :)

congrats :)

hun if u getting alot or some sickness try crackers or rich tea biscuits. know rich tea are boring but it helps :) ginger biscuits also apparently helps with sickness.

lucky for me mine went at 12weeks sdays something like that :)

I got a letter for my 12 week scan which is on 14th May but since then i have booked the nuchal scan and bloods privately which is on 8th may and 17th may so im not sure if i should keep or cancel my NHS scan?
Keep thinking that someone who is waiting a long time might want my appointment as when i had my scan 2 years ago i wasnt seen until 12 weeks and the baby had died.

That's awful Little Miss Jocelyn.

I must say part of me is so worried about my scan Fri, incase something is wrong. I am petrified underneath it all. I just can't wait to hear the heartbeat and see the scan, and I'll feel much happier.

Hi guys,
I had some bleeding on Friday so phoned hospital and they advised me to come in for an emergency scan on Sunday morning. Was a bit worried as we had our in-laws coming for lunch and was nervous about how I would conduct myself had everything gone pear shaped. Anyway, the point of my email is to just reassure anyone else that has had any bleeding/ brown discharge of any description. This is such a common problem and usually there is no explanation for it but the baby is fine. I hope that has put anybody's mind at rest who is in the same situation as I was. Was great to see the heart beat on screen and the little bean was 13mm long - Ahhhhh!
Happy pregnancies!
