I'm 37.2 and had some dull backache yesterday along with period type pains. Nothing excruciating or major. This morning i wiped and found pinkish tea coloured discharge. Throughout the course of the afternoon it's turned brown and now becoming a little stringy like the end of a period. With my first i could tell straight away like OH!! That's my plug as it was jelly like and pink/beige.

Rang hospital and they gave me signs to watch out for i.e. contractions /waters breaking. Is this slow labour? Did anyone go into labour soon after having something similar. My first labour happened when my waters broke in the night and my plug came at the same time i ended up with contractions within the hour.

No signs of contractions yet just fanny daggers every now and again and period type mild cramps.

Very excited and i know everyone's different but just wanted other's experiences if they were similar :)

I've been having this for a week! And still nothing I've bounced on my ball walked miles and nothing she's just having me on I think! Midwife said early stages of labour I was dilating just slowly x

Sorry I was in early labour for 9 days and my show was at the beginning.

I'm 8days in to this I'm hoping some progression is being made by time Tuesday rolls round for midwife x

Bumpy car rides, pineapple and lots of walking for me i think

Bounced on my ball yesterday for the first time and had sex so hoping that might have persuaded this stubborn little baby.

Awwwww i bet you're fed up Sammh. The thought of another 4 weeks potentially is really annoying me. Got the midwife today so might ask for some hints or to check whether im even dilating.

Xx

I did exactly the same ball and sex yesterday and nothing getting checked over by midwife to see if I'm dilating at all let's hope for both our sakes we are lol it's making me question everything I can't cope with waiting anymore lol. Xx

When's your due date Sammh? I'm due 24th. I'm annoying myself by checking everytime i go to the loo. Driving myself mad and have constant period pains :(

I'm due on the 19th, also feeling super impatient now! Trying everything to get her out but no signs yet other than she's dropped and the fanny daggers! I'm going for a sweep on Tuesfay to see if that gets things moving. No show yet :(

Also I have been offered an induction on my due date. After giving it some thought had decided against it but spoke with my midwife on Tuesday who was very laid back about it and the way I'm feeling now think I may just go for it if my cervix is favourable and I still haven't gone into spontaneous labour by then.

Why have you decided against an induction? I was induced with my first baby it wasn't as bad as I'd thought was gunna be. Hopefully baby comes soon for you xx

Sammh18 I read some statistics about it giving you a higher chance of endin up having a c section (which wouldn't be the end of the world but which I'd prefer to avoid if possible) but then the midwife was saying that if you go overdue the stats for c section go up anyway as baby can get too big etc. so now I'm thinking of going for it! I'm really pleased to hear you had an ok experience with induction, I have heard some horror stories which did put me off a bit but I think it's like everything- when you ask you are most likely to get feedback from people who have had a negative experience. Fingers crossed for you too!xx

When I've spoken to my midwife she has said the only chance of a csection is if baby is struggling or I was etc. It does hurt I'm not gunna lie I ended up with forceps and she turned herself round so I ended up with stitches but it wasn't as bad as some people natural births I've heard. If given the chance I'd take another induction over a c section it's my final option I get myself in to a right state about it. Don't let people's negative experiences put you off i didn't xx

I've always been put off an induction because apparently the drip they put y on brings on strong contractions without build up and so most have epidural to counter the pain because the body doesn't have time to make its own pain relief. My friend had an induction at 38 weeks and it took a few tries. Afterwards her midwife said she didn't understand why she was induced as before full term theres around a 10% chance of it working. she ended up with a section

But then I've never had an induction, only a section which was not as bad as id imagined. I've got an 18 month old so im desperate to avoid another section.

I read somewhere that to induce they'll only break your waters and not use the drip if you've already had a section. But i don't know if thats completely true. Something to do with the contractions being a lot stronger so increasing the chance of uterine rupture?

I had the tablet form not the drip and mine came on gradually which I think contributed to a ok experience of induction. I'd prefer not to have a section I've got a 2 and a half year old and she uses me daily as a climbing frame lol I don't know the percentages of an induction working it worked for me lol my friend was induced at 35 weeks due to kidney problems and she went in to labour quite quick. Xx
