hmmm wen i had my lo 6 yrs ago we only got the 2 scans at 12 and 20 weeks and as far as i know still do cos none of my mates have gotten one at 32 weeks but i sure as hell will be asking one for one bcos my silly mw last time told me ohhh yer having a big baby hmm am i thats strange all my others were smallish biggest 8lb altho i was quite big i always thought that there was summet not right cos wen i got braxton hicks only seemed like half my tummy would go hard very odd.. anyways i goes into labour have my baby and low and behold she was teeny tiny 5lb 5 and they said no way was she just 1 week early more like 4 and they didnt pick this up on the scans grr bloody idiots so this time i shall be asking for that growth scan x
In my area you only get a 12 then 20 week scan. I got 32 week one to see if placenta had moved to determine if I needed a section. I also got 36 week one coz I was measuring small but they only do this one if mw is concerned xx
I was told they only do the growth scans at 28 and 36 weeks if you have a high BMI. Those are what I'm having. Funny how it's all the NHS, but all the hospitals work to different guidelines lol.
Nope, no scan after 20 weeks in my area. Only 12 & 20 unless complications. My sister in glasgow has a 3 and a half year old son who she only had one scan at 14 weeks with. And he had an amniotic band which would've been picked up easily at 20 week scan. They've only recently started doing 2 scans there now.
you only get them at 12 and 20 and 28 if ur bmi is over a certain amount or complications!!
so far i have had 12, 20, 28, 30, 34, 36 then 38 for growth but have had scans in between to check for EDF and LV which is waters and blood flow checks but still seen bubba on them all
so far i have had 10 scans and my 11th is next tue, hoping that will be it or my baby just comes early xx
I had a 32 week scan with my last two years ago, the first time I'd been offered one that late , because my placenta had been in both other scans very low down and they wanted to check it was out of the way ready for the birth and it was . It was amazing to see baby on the screen she looked exactly as she did when she born 8 weeks later. xx
At my hospital they do routine scans at 12 weeks, 22 weeks and 34 weeks (and then another one at 41 weeks if you are overdue) my friend is in a different borough and she only gets two scans, and my other friend just gave birth in my hospital but didn't get the 34 week scan - I think it's a very new thing and it's up to the hospital whether they implement it or not xx
I had one scan with my daughter who's 4. Just my 12 week one.
With my son I had 5 with a couple more thrown in to check his position. Im unsure as to what I'll get this time but I'll be having my dating scan at 14 weeks then my anomaly scan for definite x
As far as I know I only get scans at 12 and 20 weeks, but I think I might give my hospital a ring as it would be great if I could get one at 32 weeks xxx
I believe it is a new thing that some hospitals have taken up and others haven't yet.
My hospital does not, but then I have an internal scan at 24 weeks to check my cervix was a healthy shape and size because the size of it can affect whether or not you are likely to have a premature baby, which isn't offered most other places. I think different hospitals have different procedures.
So basically - don't dispair if you do not get offered one, and don't worry if you do
I'm only getting a scan at 12 and 20 weeks. Nothing has been discussed after this. I know my step mum was only meant to get a 12 week scan and that was it so her and my dad had to pay for a babybond scan at 20 weeks which 6 years ago was £120!
