23 follicles ivf!!!

So as the post says went up today for day 10 of stims, ive gone from 14 to 23 follicles!!! 18 of which are one 1 side!!
The other problem is they are not very big, the largest few are 13mm and the other around 8...11mm, this means i have no choice but to stim for another 3 days and im back up there thu where i will have ablood test, if my estrogen levels are high im at serious risk of OHSS and they will need to freeze the eggs...any good ones that is, as some of u know i had 3 blasts with this hospital they didnt survive the thaw so this is a horrendous option for me!!

Also my worry is if i get new follicles in the 3 days!! and if they dont grow it may be cancelled completely
Any1 any similar stories, advice etc? Im absolutely fumin xx

I had the estrogen tests etc on my first cycle. I ended up with 14 eggs, 12 mature from about twice that many follicles. I had mild ohss which wasn't nice.

Keep super hydrated as the ohss risk is mainly post collection so will be there whatever they do (although the reason they freeze is that ohss goes down a lot quicker without pregnancy hormones). Make sure you keep your proteins up now to give those eggs a really good chance.

I completely understand your fears about freezing after what you've been through. I only lost 50% but even then the idea of going through a frozen cycle again is horrid.

On size your big follicles should get 2mm a day from here so you're looking at several at 17-19mm at your next scan. Even if you triggered that night they'd get above 20mm by collection so plenty at a good size. With a short protocol you should expect small follicles as well as the big ones.

There's no way of telling the final outcome just look after yourself. And remember with ohss risk that hydration is everything.

And if it's any consolation, my successful cycle was the one where I felt everything was going wrong... I hope this is the one for you xxx

thanks scotch egg, and only 2 days left till you meet your little miracle, just goes to show doesnt it and its people like like who give me hope so im so glad you didnt just get pregnant and dash cos having your support and wisdom is great.
Im having major hot flashes so i think i do have high e2 levels, the doc was blabbering on about if they put embryos back and i have ohss my body could kill them off? Im sure they just make it up half the time
So I guess its just rest, drink loads of fluid and hope my e2 level isnt too high thu and that no more follies decide to put in an apperance!!!

Bless you thank you. I still don't feel like I belong in the pregnancy section and feel more at home in here following all your journeys.

I've not heard that about ohss but it can put a huge strain on your body so maybe can lead to a higher miscarriage rate. I've not seen anything to say that though.

I really do hope they don't have to cancel your cycle. Generally they only seem to do that in severe cases so have everything crossed if you are affected it's only mild.

On my first cycle I had 27 follicles growing and like you had the most of those on 1 side, I ended up with 14 eggs out of those.
I actually had to coast that cycle and was also threatened with cycle being cancelled, I had my e2 levels checked the same days they spotted I had that many and of course it was too high and I wasn't allowed to trigger until they came down, slightly different for you I know as you're not at the trigger stage yet but with plenty of water (at least 2 litres a day) they were normal again 2 days later and I was allowed to trigger.

Try not too worry, I know easier said than done but as Scotch says keep hydrated and drink as much water as possible and enjoy lots of protein.

Thanks tinks it really has flown. I swear the journey we've been on makes us appreciate every moment so much more and it's been an incredible 9 months. I so look forwards to following all your pregnancy journeys and hope your waits are almost over

yay been up today and im e2 levels were fine so trigger tonight and retireval sat and all set for a fresh ttransfer...I have 20 decent size follicles so hopefully lots of eggs xx

No sign yet. I'm excited but not scared. Been doing hypnotherapy and think that may have something to do with that. Feel surprisingly calm.

You're going to have such a good crop, there must be a future baby in that lot!

That's brilliant! 20mm is what they need to be, so larger is even better!
Lets hope this is finally it for you now!
By the way do you know if the IVF drugs work in a similar way to clomid? I know they make you produce loads of eggs but if I need clomid to make them grow big enough I'm concerned that the IVF drugs wouldn't work.

The ivf drugs make your follicles grow too its not just about producing follicles... if that was the case she would have taken me off the ivf meds as soon as I had enough follicles but she kept e on them another 3 days to grow them...dont worry IVF should work fine...... is that going to be your next step if clomid doesnt work? Or IUI? X

IUI first then IVF if that doesn't work either! I wrote loads in reply to you on my 'Presssure & Inadequacy' thread!

It seems that the clomid is necessary for my follicle size/progesterone levels so now I'll ovulate properly, and my DH's sperm are good (he's been taking supplements for 2 months now so there should be less deformed ones, ha ha!) So we have the eggs and sperm and are getting them together often enough! Its just a case of them 'doing their thing' now! Maybe if they still don't we will need IVF so the embryologists can do it for us. I really wanted to conceive at home, not in a clinic but we might not have any choice.

so did they find out that you wasnt overulating properly? Sorry if youve been over this its quite hard to follow everyones situations... from what I remeber it was unexplained with you but you was concerned due to age?
I think IVF wont need to be an option for you (hopefully) for us that was really the only option but you still have things to try which is great... how many clomid cycles have you done and how long will they keep you on it for? x
