20 week scan

how long does this last for?? do they like count the fingers and toes and stuff :/ i didnt have one when i had codie just the 12 week one

They check the four chambers in the heart, measure limbs, head circumference, check the brain, measure the abdomen. The sonographer talked me through everything she was doing. It lasted about 20/25 minutes I think. Although baby was lying upside down with it's face on my bladder. So I had to get up and jump around a bit. Oh they also check the face too.
It's even better than the 12 wk scan, you get a bit more time to take it all in and it's so clear
I've maybe left something out, I'm sure someone else will reply too

Think Pinky's covered it....although mine didn't talk me through it at all, just took the measurements and said there were no problems. I know other people have been told the actual measurements, so obviously just depends on the sonographer or hospital policy. I was just happy enough to know everything was ok! Oh yes they also check the spine...I know this cos she had to tickle my baby's feet to get it to move so she could see the spine, lol. They also picked up a low lying placenta on mine......
