1st lot of tests

Hey ladies,

so a just another wee update as said before we got our letter for our next appointment in January, then a few days later I get another letter saying about the results of our tests. My ultrasound showed that I have PCOS and my progesterone is only 0.5 (whats the average progesterone level anyone know?)

It then goes on to say that my husband shows normal sperm his percentage is 1.3 and the normal is 4% and although its low he is still classed as fertile and nothing needs to be done about that.

So I now have a prescription for clomid but it says you have to take on day 2-6 of your cycle, but my question is I don't get periods so how do I take them??

and now im wondering now all this has happened I wonder why we have our apt in January?

is anyone able to give me any advice?

Hi hon, great to hear you have a treatment plan in place. I have pcos and am on my second round of clomid. I didn't have cycles at all without it but now ovulating with clomid

It seems a bit weird they have just sent you a prescription. You will also need to take provera first to induce a bleed. I guess they can prescribe that at your appt in jan? Make sure to ask how they are going to monitor you - ideally you want to have tracking scans to establish if you are producing follicles (and if so how many) and a blood test afterwards to confirm ov.

If your progesterone was 0.5 that just means you hadn't ov'ed before the test was done. Progesterone is tested 7 days after ov - anything over 30 means you did ov. 0.5 is just a normal number otherwise.

Good luck!

Anna xx

Hi that does seem a confusing way of prescribing! Can you call and enquire? Your hubby's SA result sounds like you may need a further conversation or another test however. The testing criteria generally used does have 4% normal forms classed as normal ( it's a very strict test) but where I live if you have 2 tests which show less than that you would be referred for IVF with male factor sub fertility. This happened to us, my hubby's were 2%, 3%, 3%, also our count isn't great either but is now classed within the normal range. We have a child already so are looking at self funding IVF. I would still go to your January appointment armed with more questions xx

hey,

so just been on the phone to the hospital they are sending me a prescription for provera and have told me that when I bleed on cd1 I have to phone them and arrange for a tracking scan to be done on cd10 and on days 2-6 I will take the clomid.

but she told me I am not allowed to :bd: within that time so fingers crossed everythings looking up :)

That's the same as me first cycle - they just want to make sure you are not over stimulated. Good luck xxx

Good luck yummymummy :) I hope this clomid produces lots'a healthy eggs & you get your bfp soon x

hey all just to let you know today is my 1st round of clomid x fingers crossed im so excited x

hey London girl how are you? how do you know when you have ov'd? mines are so far apart its hard to tell. ive also got my tracking scan on cd10 what is it they do then and what do they look for?

I knew when I ov'ed as I was doing digi opks so got a smiley face. I guess I could have ov'ed the following day but I got quite bad ov pains on cd16. I can tell a few days later also when my progesterone starts to rise as I generally feel quite crappy and get sore boobs

And I am well thanks - I got my bfp two days ago :)

Hope clomid works for you too xx

Oh and the tracking scan is to see if you have any follicles developing. I had mine on cd10 on the first cycle and they couldn't see anything so don't be disheartened if this happens to you as when I went back on cd15 I think I had a nice follicle growing :)

congrats on your :bfp:London girl I bet your well pleased do you think it was the clomid that helped what strength were you on? im on 50g

It was definitely the clomid! I didn't even have cycles before I took it and 50mg got me ov'ing. I was lucky - some ladies need a higher dosage so don't despair if 50mg doesn't work for you. Sending you lots of :dust: xx

thankyou London girl, when are you due? that's just given me even more hope that clomid will work

I think about sept 8th - eek so excited! I hope clomid works it's magic for you too xx

hopefully it does, it has a good success rate so you never know. I was just thinking it seems ages that we started ttc but then a year passed and I went to the dr then I had to wait for ages on an appt coming through then there was loads of tests god no wonder it feels like forever did you feel the same?

Yes it all took forever with so many tests etc! Worth the wait though :)

hey everyone,

how are you all? I was just reading about clomid online and says ovulation should be between days 12-17, is this right? when did you all start using OPK's?

I was supposed to phone the hospital on cd1 to book in for a scan on cd10-however my luck I started on fri night so couldnt exactly phone then, I tried again on sat morning but it appeared closed as usually when you phone the phone rings for a while and if no-one answers it goes to answer phone. however when I phoned it went straight to answer phone and I tried 3 times. so im gonna phone tomorrow, tomorrow is the 30th so hopefully I should get someone, does anyone know if hospitals are closed?

also my cd10 lands on a sun so does that mean I will get my scan done on the mon?

I ov'ed on cd19 on my first cycle and cd16 on my second. I think it varies a lot. I started doing opks from cd10 just in case. Good luck xxx

hey everyone right just a wee update I phoned the hospital this morning and explained my cd10 lands on a sun so im booked in for the 6th January :yay: it feels like we are getting somewhere now im feeling so hopeful now
