Ethan switched from 3 to 2 naps at about 8 months and we have had a good routine going since. However for the last week he is simply refusing to take his second nap! The only time he will sleep is if we happen to be in the car or out in the pram, but try and get hime down in the cot and its a nightmare!! He cries everytime I leave the room, but if I stay and hold on to him he will rest his head on me for about 10 seconds and then wriggle and squirm about, if I out him down he will just roll over and sit up or stand, and if I try and lie him down and shush him/rub his tummy etc he will just smile like its a game!!.....I thought maybe he was trying to drop to 1 nap, but he clearly needs more than the 1.5 hrs he does in the morning.....he gets grumpier and grumpier as the day goes on and Im trying so hard to get him asleep by 6.30 to make up for it but he is starting to be difficult at bedtime too :-( He does go through the night but has been having more frequent nightmares as well :-( Morning naps seem to be ok so far. I dont know whats going on......I heard something about a 8/9/10 month sleep regression (like at 4months but not as bad). Anyone got experience of this?? How long it lasts, how to deal with it etc?.......His top 2 teeth are also coming thru which Im sure doesnt help but pain relief doesnt seem to make any difference to the afternoon nap either :-/.......My boy was doing so well and I know its only been a week but things seem to be getting worse rather than better! I go back to work in 4 weeks and would really love to have things better so that he is more settled before this next huge upheaval! Advice would be appreciated xxx

Nooooooooooo I heard babies sleep better at night at 10 months :( GUTTED!

Erm Tyler's started refusing naps since 8 months so I'm struggling to get much out of him but I can generally get 1/2 hour in his buggy in the morning then feed him off for hour 1/2 in the afternoon

Tyler was only having 2 1/2 hour naps last week and only being rocked in his buggy so id be inclined to say give it a week and will hopefully improve

Urgh noooo please noooooooooooo Stanley's been through a constant sleep regression since he was born I was hoping it would sort out soon lol xx

Well, I guess I'm clutching at straws to know what's wrong!.....I have managed to get him down for second nap in cot today with minimum fuss so hoping that's the beginning of him getting over it! X

Yep! Think we might have come through the other side but she's now got 4 or 5 teeth coming through so not overly sure! She now wakes twice a night for milk :(
Sorted the nap thing by keeping her up in the morning, she used to go down for a 45 min nap about 2 hours after waking but now she'll go 3.5/4 hours and wi sleep for an hour / hour & half. She will then be awake until about 2pm and have another hourish. Then goes down at 7pm with no fuss again.

If these teeth would just bloody appear then I might actually stop falling asleep at my desk! Lol

Oh no pp! U must b shattered! Ethan still seems to b having more 'nightmares' but he has gone down for afternoon nap again today, no probs :-)
Tinks- I tried keeping him up in the morning but just couldn't stretch him out much past 9.30! ( he gets up around 6-6.30). I'm hoping he is settling out of it now.....top 2 teeth have cut but he is still chomping loads so giving ibuprofen once a day!
It's v hard when u get used to a routine and they completely throw it! X

Kynon has never been a sleeper anyway unless he is fed to sleep then wakes loads at night. We had a week or so where he improved as I think all the crawling wore him out but now he's back to normal! I never force a nap or have a day routine but I've found if he does nap its just after lunch which sees him through til bedtime. Could you move his nap to afternoon maybe? Most mums I see with babies the same age have 1 afternoon nap x

The morning sound like Grace, she'll go down for an hour or so about 9:30/10 then when she's up will stay up until about 2pm then that's it till be time.
She slept straight through 7-7 last night although I can't see it lasting but you never know lol

Sarah- The latest I have ever stretched it to was 11 and that was when he was at another house and completely distracted by his friend and all her toys!..... If he would wait til later in the day and take a nap then I'm sure it would work better with just 1, but at the mo he just can't! 3-3.5 hours awake and he's had enough!.....He was so cranky last week by bedtime with just one nap and looked shattered!
Tinks- he is just like that, asleep by 9.30 then up til about 1.30-2pm, and after that awake til bed!.....Today he went back to refusing afternoon nap in cot, but popped him in stroller and got him off in about 10 mins!.....Got hv coming nxt week, will c what she says if he's still being up and down with it!....Would have thought if he wanted to drop a nap he'd drop the morning one but no sign of that at all!
