A star or a celebrity?

e.g.: Would you want your child to start playing football early to become the next football star? Or would you want your little girl to take singing and dancing lessons to turn her into a famous popstar?

hell yes, if my boys a kick ass footy player/ singer/ pornstar then Id tell him to go for it - make some dollar and enjoy himself

Loooooool...pornstar! At least he could afford to put you in a decent home

ETA: Old peoples home...not implying your a scumbag

I voted if it's his dream not mine. I would be happy for him and proud of him whatever he does as long as he is happy :D

I voted "only if it's his dream, not mine"

Because I'll be honest. I really want Kenzo to play football and be great at it and earn millions lol! AND I want him to be a good singer, actor and perfomer!

But who am I to decide what he should and shouldn't do when he is older? Of course I can introduce him to certain sports and activities from a young age, but if he doesn't want to carry on, why force him into doing something that's not his dream? It's just a waste of time. Because when he is 18 and wants to be a doctor, all the time and effort invested in other things like music, sports... will be lost.

So if it's not his dream, no point really!

I'll encourage Mills to do whatever she wants to do and to try out whatever she wants to try out (apart from class A's that is). I'll still expect her to get some qualifications, though.

Ella can do what she wants to do, just as long as she uses some integrity while doing it. If she turned out like Paris Hilton or somebody I'd be disappointed.

hmm not sure. i would hate to be famous, and as an extension of that would not want it for my kids. i hate the way celebs are worshipped. Saying that though if they were in a band (rockband not manufactured crap) or were a fab actress then I would be very suppotive. if they were a fameseeker on big brother, i'd have words.

My kids will be all they want to be and i will encourage them to work to the best of their ability in their chosen field. If it is a singer, actor, whatever, the same will apply. As it happens, my eldest has always loved to sing and when she was younger i never encouraged it because i didnt want her to become obsessed with it, i wanted her to do lots of things, now she is sixteen and going to arts school and it is becoming obvious that she wants to sing - looks like she may get the chance to do some back singing for a band - she is really excited about it. Whether she will get anywhere with it remains to be seen. In the meantime i expect her to get qualifications of some kind as i think the world of acting/singing, etc is superficial and not very stable. She needs to be able to support herself and be independent in some other field. If she makes it into the world of music, good for her!
