I was sitting a play grp yesterday and was taking to a mum about my 2o week scan, I was telling her that I really could not wait to find out sex and if baby chezza was hiding that day I would pay for a private gender scan, as i really could not wait till baby chezza was baked...Anyway she went on to tell me that she lied about bleeding in her past pregnancy so she could get another scan

So was just wondering if anyone has or would do this??? Im not thinking bad of her or anyone that has done this i was just wondering :D

Oh I know what you mean  I'm not judging her either but personally I wouldn't do it, for fear it would bring bad luck to my baby if I had to lie about something so serious

Again, I am not judging the lady but I couldn't do it either as I would constantly worry that by saying that it would happen!!!!

Not judging ur mum either, but i couldnt do this either as ive had bleeding on and off from 5 weeks until 12 weeks and its really scary so id be afraid of it all starting up again and causing lots of problems for my baby and me.

Good luck with ur own scan i do hope baby will show all so u dont have to get a private scan.

Not to judge either but i dont think i could as ive had bleeding on and off during this pregnancy and was scanned anyway to make sure was all ok but none the less its still a huge worry.

All the best for your scan though hun and i hope baby wont be awkward and will show you the sex! :cheer:

I dont think its right as there are people that do need the scans and the people that lie are taking them away from someone that may need it.
I have had several early scans either due to bleeding or reassurance scans as ive had 2 losses.

I wouldn't. NHS resources are limited as they are, and lie-ing just in order to get another scan which isn't even medically neccessary is just wrong, imho. I'm as anxious as the next woman, but that's no excuse to lie.

Someone told me to do the exact same thing  as they had done it cause they didn't want to wait for their scan!! I also think its wrong and bad karma!! xx

I was a bit naughty when i was 7 weeks i told them i wasnt sure about my dates so got an early scan just to check i wasnt further along

Nope I couldn't - I'd feel terrible especially with all the girls on here who have had genuine scares.

I feel bad reading about everyones problems on here cos I feel perfectly fine, never mind doing that!

exactly, I wanted a gender scan done so I'm paying for it. If I have genuine concerns i will go to my hospital, if I just want a peek I will whip out my credit card lol.

you'd be flagged as high risk pregnancy if you say you've had a bleed.....not a great idea. :?

I've had a real scare so for me, that extra scan is a scarey experience and would never lie about it. I think she should just wait like what everyone else has too. Its people like her who have to make other worried people wait hours in a waiting room wondering if they have lost their baby :(

Having had 2 mc's and plenty of scares with my DD I would never even contemplate of doing this and sorry I am judging this woman I think she is very selfish to have done that. If you have had lots of trouble then of course you should be offered reassurance scans a less stressed mum is best for baby but to lie like that just to get an extra look!

I don't want to sound like I'm judging this woman either, but I have to agree with that. NHS hospitals/staff, etc., are very busy and the resources ARE limited... I don't think it's fair that there could be another woman who HAS had bleeding and/or other problems and needs a scan, but might have to wait because this woman just wants another one for the sake of it!

i wouldnt do it either as ive had bleeding on and off all the way through this pregnancy so far

No way, I had to have 2 early scans because of bleeding and for both of them I had to wait due to the high waiting list, I would hate to be the one that made a poor woman that really needed the scan to wait because I lied, sitting waiting and twiddling your thumbs is a horrible experience as many ladies know and I could not take up a space with no reason knowing a lady could be going through what I had to
