Maybe its me just being cheeky but I believe that if you spend a big sum of money in a retail store, your entitled to ask for, and get, some sort of discount. I have worked in retail during Uni and i know that we did give 10% off to people spending large sums of money if they asked for it.
Yesterday I went to Mamas and Papas and finally got round to buying all the nursery stuff for James (he is in our room at mo but about to move) and spent a whopping £3200 (thanks to my dads inheritance i wouldnt have been able to afford it otherwise). I asked whether there was anything they could do on the price, baring in mind we have spend well over £1k previously on buggies, carseats etc, and that we are going to need to buy a double buggy etc. The assistant was v nice and that she was sure there was sommat they could do. Well in the end, all the manager would give me was £35 off for the delivery!! Once he had gone (he was a right tosser and didnt even look or speak to me, just put it into the till and mumbled to the assistant before going which i thought was v rude considering the amount we were spending) the assistant was v apologetic and said that it had happened the day before to another couple and they had called customer services to complain who had told them that they would give them some money back and to go back into store to get it. So this morning I called CS to tell them what had happened and the cowbag on the phone reckoned it was a policy of theirs not to give any discount. I didnt want to land the assistant in it so i didnt say anything about what she had said, but to me, it seems really off that I have spent the best part of £5k in that shop and was going to be spending more yet they dont feel it necessary to reward that loyalty. Grrrr.
Am i being pregnant and unreasonable or do you guys agree?
