As im havin the baby in an out of town hospital, im not sure wot to do. I have a lil girl that will need taken care of, but last time i went in as soon as contractions started there was no improvment so they were to send me home, but my waters broke as i got in the lift but it wasnt till 16 hours later till i met my baby girl.
They say 2ns births are quicker so do i go in when contractions start or wait till it gets intense at home then make my way over, but if i do that i may give birth in the ambulance or car.

I have had very quick labours with my boys my first lasted 4 and a half hours, and my last one was only 1 hour 45mins and i literally went from 5cm to fully dialated in about 10 mins!

If i was you i would go in pretty early and explain how you feel that it could all start to happen quickly, they might allow you to stay in on the anti natal ward. The best thing is to keep moving once it starts and hopefully that will keep the contractions going and get baby out asap!

I stayed at home until the contractions got quite nippy and I was 6 cms when I went it so straight to delivery ward. This time though i have to get my MIL over to mind my son and I dont want to be in labour in the house with her so I will prob go in earlier

I'd ask your midwife to be honest. Mine has said when the contractions are 5-7 mins apart, or I need pain relief, or my waters go. They seem quite laid back about the chance of me getting taken in at the hospital. In Bristol where I had Elliott it was so busy that they didn't want you there until the last possible moment and so put you off or sent you home and of course it was my first and took ages anyway. My midwife here said you could probably cut the time of labour from 1/3- 2/3 the second time around- is that what other ladies here have experienced?
