Hello ladies! When would you say you gave up work when pregnant?

Im trying to figure out how much time i can work for comfortably this is due to losing my job 2 days ago and i would like to know what i can apply for!

Your advise would be helpful! :D

i gave up work at 33 weeks as i worked in retail on my feet all day at the time i thought it was a bit early but im glad i left when i did.

dont think i could have coped much more.

if i was to have worked behind a desk all day probably would have left today as i am 36 weeks.

but it all depends how your pregnancy is going you can leave 11 weeks before your due date.

You might be entitled to maternity allowance depending on how much you've worked. Look at http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Bfsl1/Benef ... G_10018869

You can claim from 11 weeks before EDD.

As for work, its very individual and will depend on your pregnancy and how you feel. I worked till 35+2 because I was agency and my replacement had arrived. I was ready to go then. Fiona is still working at 38+2, some leave earlier some later so see how it goes :)

Unfortunately I don't technically leave work, I'm simply going to be taking a few weeks off (like being away on holiday) from when I give birth, then work from home.....the joys of having your own business!

I work on a computer all day, and I can luckily work from home which helps. I work in the office 3 days a week at the moment, and one day from home. I find this suits as I don't get overtired.

I would say depending on what you are doing, maybe try to get a job 4 days a week in an office, I would hate to be working in a job on my feet all day as I am on the tired train again

At least in an office job working to 36 weeks is more feasable (sp).

Good Luck with the job hunting - sorry to hear you lost your job babe

i left when i was about 34 weeks, that is because my job demanded me to stand up all day and lift heavy materials and i have had quite a bad pregnancy and been in hospital alot.
some people work right up until they have their baby and are quite happy

I am still working although trying to cut the hours down... but in saying this I have already done 46 hours this week... and most of them have been spent on my feet - but I am a florist and it is valentines week.

saw a consultant this week for a growth scan and he said that as long as I fetl fit and healthy and wasn't overdoing it I could carry on BUT did say that I should keep in mind that I needed to conserve my energy for the birth and that if I was too tired when I went in labour it might end up in a c.section...........

something I had not thought but now thinking that I ought to put my feet up for the next couple of weeks.

Have to say thought that although I have felt tired at times, and the last couple of weeks have had swollen ankles by the end of the day ... I have felt really well right through the pregancy...

I guess everyone is different - you will know as time goes on how you are feeling and when enough is enough

I work in credit control so i'm sat at a desk all day & i'm planning to work 8 days until i'm due!! If she comes early then obviously that plan goes to pot!
