It says in policy that I have to do it by 26 weeks and they r refusing as normal line manager away! How will this affect my leave?

they cant hold it against you if your actually trying to give it in and being refused. i will have to just send mine to head office when i get it at the end of october. hope it dosent cause any trouble hun

your midwife signs your MatB1 form hun. not work. You give it to work once your midwife has signed it. Its like proof that youre pregnant. If your line manager wont take a copy just send it straight to HR with a cover note with the date so they cant say you didnt send it on time.

Yeh MW signs it as confirmation of your due date and u just hand it in to HR at work x

Yeah I sent mine with a covering note to HR for when I wanted to start maternity leave & when I planned on returning. If you date the letter, then that's proof you handed it in before the deadline!

I had the same problem hun. Some companies just require your Mat B1 form with a cover note, but we have to fill out a form that the manager signs too, mine was away when I needed to get it sorted too. Several phone calls and me nearly breaking down in tears on the phone to HR lol, I finally managed to get it sorted and sent them the form without the signature. I don't think they can refuse it hun, it's not your fault your manager isn't around to sign it.
Hope you get it sorted soon

I have had to send my matb1 to my boss by recorded delivery so that he has to sign for it as he is a complete arse and wont respond to any messages or txts sent through the work computer and because I run the branch surgery single handed I never see him and he also owes me 8 days holiday( apparantly our holiday runs from october to september)

I have basically written him a letter stating when my maternity leave will start and that he owes me 8 days holiday which I am taking before my maternity leave starts, I also told him in the letter when my paid maternity leave finishes and that I am also entitled to acrue holiday days while on maternity which I will be taking at the end as he keeps saying I'm not entitled to holiday days while on maternity and wont even let me have time off for midwife appts in work time which is wrong.

I stated that if I heard nothing then I will take it that he has accepted the terms of the letter and when my last working day will be.

OMG! Your boss sounds like an arse. Also its against the law not letting you have paid time for appointments and saying you don't acrue holidays. Maybe get some advice from ACAS if he gets any more difficult.
