I'm a stay at home mum - thought about going back to work part-time - but at the time we lived in Surrey and I would have been working just to cover the childcare costs with very little left over. We had no family who could help out. That's the main reason why we moved abroad last year as cost of living is much lower here and we can afford for me to stay at home, and it's definitely worth it. In England it's a joke living on one salary once you've paid for mortgage, council tax, bills, petrol etc etc!!! Ironically though, I really miss England (never thought I'd be saying that!). Can't wait til we come back for the summer next week!

If i had a hubby that earned enough, could drive and had my own house then I would love to be a stay home mum.
But I dont, and I plan to start looking for a job when the babys about 8 weesk old and see if i can di evenings on a checkout and DH can look after kids. I will stay at home during day and look after them while hubby is at work but after that I need to earn my own money.

i am at uni so i will be takin a year out. i took a yr out straight after school for reanna becus i didnt want to put her in a nursery before she was 1yr but i must admit when she did go to the uni nursery it was fantastic and it really strengthened her social skills as a toddler and her personality, so im glad i did but im also glad i waited and spent the first yr at home with her. i have just completed my second yr at uni (hopefully i will pass 
) and will go bk in september 2008 to finish final yr.
my course is really intense because its only 4 weeks in uni and then 112 days work placement so i wud have to pay quite alot on nursery fees and she wud be in nursery everyday so i feel its better to wait. im lucky that i have the choice tho and dont have a mortgage so will just have to scrimp n save in next yr or so to get by.
