hey everyone.. i just wanted to knwo what everyone plans on doing? working or staying at home? or what you already do now.. just interested in whos doing what and throwing ideas into the pot about what i will do.. im currently a student, and i want to go back to uni in september.. this little ones due in january so not sure if its practical..

Hi i will be going back to work but im def gonna make sure i make the most of my maternity leave. I only work twice a week anyway as i have 2 young ones already so will just go back to doing my 2 days. I think that is all my hubby would be able to cope with especially if the next is another girl. He says a house of 4 women is going to be a nightmare hehe :D

I'll be going back to work full-time after my maternity leave :(

I dont want to but with a mortgage to pay etc I cant afford to stay at home :( Wish I could :?

hey lisa,
i was going to go to uni in september this year, had the place since last february, but then i got pregnant with Evie and i dint want to have to put her in a nursery at 5months old. Luckily we can afford for me to stay at home, plus now that we might be TTC number 2 soon i'll probably be a SAHM for a few year before going back to uni. It saves me having to start a course and then leaving to have another baby, i'd rather just do the whole course at one time with no distractions. :D

I would love to stay at home with my children... but unfortunately my hubby doesn't earn enough to support us all so I will have to go back to work... Spain doesn't have all the benefit systems in place so either you work or you go hungry. So I will work. Maternity leave is only 3 months. I was made redundant 3 weeks ago (yes..in Spain they can sack pregnant women whenever they feel like it), so I will have to look for a new job after the baby is born.

im hoping i wont have to go back full time , but i cant do my job part time either , its one thing thats really worrying me at mo , as we private rent , and its not cheap in london !

Well, I work from home so I can't vote LOL :rotfl:

I am hoping to be an At home mum... but we will decide when i'm on maternity leave... see if we can afford to live on my hubbys salary alone...... if not then i hope i can go back part time or something just to earn a bit more money.. it all depends on how much child care is around our area.....

Ill have to go back to work, although hopefully with reduced hours of some sort. But my employers probably cant offer me that so might have to be somewhere else.

This is a difficult one....... I plan to return to work for 10 hours a week. I won't need child care as I will work the 2 days that my hubby is off so he will watch the baby.

I haven't voted as I am not sure what to pick. I agree with parents returning to work and can see why people want to stay at home. I guess I am just really lucky that I get to do what suits me and what I want. x

i am going to go back to work 3 days a week so that we can pay the mortgage!! but i am lucky in that we can just about afford for me to take a full year off starting in 3.5 weeks!!

That's terrible squiglet, things have improved so much here in the UK.

At the moment it's really early days and it's our first so don't know if this will happen as planned, but after ML we're planning for us both to drop to 4 day weeks. We're in a lucky situation because we both work for a university and there is a nursery on campus - it's also not far from home and the campus is lovely for walks and feeding ducks! So although little one will be in nursery 3 days a week we'll both be right there.

I'm going to look for a new part time job (3 days at most) after maternity leave - my current job won't let me work part time and also it involves a lot of travel abroad. Worried about how we'll manage with London rent prices on one and half salaries but hey, you can't buy the happiness a baby brings :D

I will be going back to work doing the same hours i do now. I do 27 hours per week but only over 3 days. It's excellent i get to be half mummy and half career girl, its the perfect compromise, i love it, also i work from 11am - 9pm so she is with Dh in the evenings., and i get to give her breakfast and play with her before work.

Its great!

i gave my job up when i had my oldest daughter who is now 4 yrs i took extended mat leave with her and had intended to go back to work then i fell pregnant with my other daughter so i decided just to stay at home my husband is self employed so his salary is up and down, its been a struggle but worth every second of it.

Unfortunately I will need to go back to work- part time hopefully if we can afford it. I would love to be able to stay at home

me too :wall:

after having first baby decided i wanted to be my own boss

I have to go back to work, but am going to put in for flexi time. I work 10.5 hour shifts just now so may just work 3 days a week instead of 4, and will work over weekends so it costs me less in childcare. I don't think I could give up work completely coz I enjoy it and think it will help keep my brain going x

I will be taking next year off college, but going back next year after about 7 months after the birth, dunno how i'll manage to do my homework with the baby, will be so distracting :)

I like my work. 3 days, I get to go shopping at lunch time and the kids are well adjusted. They are so pleased to see me and Jess likes to tell me about her day.
