Hi all,
I just wanted to get some advice. I finish work in 3 weeks time, taking leave and then starting mat leave mid december.
I work in a busy hospital department where I'm currently working on set which invovles walking in and out of a room, setting the room up for patients with set equipment, and setting up patients in position for treatment. I seem to have the majority of afternoons sat in the office but not all of them. The last girl who was expecting was in the office all the time for the last 5/6 weeks of working so I asked why I've been put onset and I've been told its because it is not my role. I'm shattered and been feeling pretty crap which I think is because I'm over doing it being on my feet for most of the day. On friday I went into another section and was asked by the staff when I was being moved offset and when I said that I wasn't, the risk assessor said that I should not be onset and really should be in the office as I shouldn't be moving patients or the equipment. She offered to do a risk assessment for me (my manager has done them up until now) but as she's in a different section I don't know if she can.
I feel that I'm being treated differently because I'm not the kind of person to speak out, theres other issues that I've been told by my mum, as a former union rep, that I need to record. I don't know whether to take up the offer of the risk assessment from the other section and I don't know whether to contact my union - the work rep is awful so I would prefer to go to them directly if I needed to. Does anyone have any advice? I've tried talking to my boss but it just seems to go in one ear and out the other
!
Thanks for any replies
