My son is 9 days old and I'm having such problems winding him.

I breast/bottle fed for the first 4 days but I'm not producing enough milk and hes now not interested with the boob. Ever since then it's become increasingly harder to wind him. All day yesterday he wouldn't wind and now he's only drinking an ounce when it comes to feeding. Is there anything I can do or give him to help him? I feel useless. I know an ounce every 2 hours is no good, especially when he usually has 4 xx

My baby is the same. I'm not sure what bottles you're using but I'd try anti colic bottles and you can give him infacol before each feed. It collects the gas so they do a couple of big burps after a feed x

Thank you for the tip belfa, I'll try the infacol xx

Cow and Gate Comfort and colief were a big help for my son during his colic days. Good luck :-)

How are you winding him hun? Like what position?

Sitting up, over my shoulder, tried rubbing his tummy too xx

When you're sitting him up, push your hand in and up. It can help push the air out of his stomach. Beyond that, I don't know what else to suggest.

Try lying him on his tummy over your thighs and gently circle his back. It worked for my son, not necessarily when he was laid down but would usually get a big burp once I sat him up again. Also hold him up under hit arm pits so he stretches out. It's the changing of positions that released my sons trapped wind. Hope that helps.x

Firstly congratulations Lulu, he's beautiful :) When my eldest hand wind issues I used to use the over the arm method- lying her along the length of my forearm close to my body and rubbing her back with my other hand. It was a surefire position when the others failed, maybe try it? Hth :)

it gets so much easier when 5/6 weeks old onwards.i had sooo much trouble then suddenly now i sit her up and she burps in her own alot of the times.first few weeks i just kept changing positions how I burped her and used infacol

We had major issues with Alex before a month old even on infacol! Hopefully it'll work for you (fingers crossed it does!) but if not maybe try gripe water (that works loads better for Alex). It says on the bottle to spoon feed but get a bottle of calpol and use the syringe from that - it makes giving gripe water 10x easier!!! :-)

Wind is terrible in the early days. My poor baby suffered with his wind until he was about a year but the first few months were awful. The things I suggest that made our lives a bit easier- Dr Browns bottles, wind after every oz or 2, keep changing positions to wind - the best we found was sitting him straight up and moving his body round in circles, gripe water if your really struggling and lots of patience. In the end we started to use probiotic sachets in his bottles because he would scream for hours with trapped wind. Good luck, it does get easier xx
