all my potatos where a lovely normal shade when i bought them but they have steadily become more and more green

why does this happen there not out of date :?

ive heard green potatoes are dangerous to eat in pregancy so ive not touched them
seem like such a waste of a full bag of potatoes :(

why are they bad to eat if green when pregnant???????????? :?

anyone know?

isnt it something to do with the oxygen like not being able to get it or maybe im just talking bout something you have got my mind going gonna check it out

iv just found this

Look for potatoes that are free from cuts and blemishes. You should avoid buying potatoes that have a green coloring to them. This "greening" is caused by exposure to natural or artificial light. Sometimes only the skin is affected, but greening may penetrate the flesh. The green portions contain the alkaloid solanin, which causes a bitter flavor and may have a poisonous effect when consumed in great quantities. Also avoid badly sprouted or shriveled potatoes.

Although most commercially marketed potatoes go through a wash process before moving to retail stores, you should wash them again before using, even if you are going to peel them.

Where do you store them?

ive always stored them at room temp on top of a bench out open
i always get them out of the bag as soon as i get them home

neerhad this happen before usually you find a few at the bottom have gone green but not all of them so soon after purchase

and they havnt been exposed to to much light either as i dont use that room much and the light is of most of the day as im at work

keep them in a cool dark cupboard is the best for them
