Who's had a hysteroscopy?

I have a hysteroscopy on Friday and I just wondered what to expect, has anyone had one?

You prompted me to watch some videos on YouTube, quite interesting really.

I've not dared look on YouTube lol!

I don't think I'm having an anesthetic, I'm definitely not getting put to sleep but whether he'll give me a local I don't know, I'll gauge what it's like pain wise from tomorrow and if tomorrow hurts then I'll ask for a local, I can't imagine it will take that long though.

Hi Maybe,

I replied to one of your earlier posts. I had a laparoscopy/ hysteroscopy. So slightly different I think I was put to sleep because of the laparoscopy bit but know I wasn't in theatre for at all long and that is with both things being done (maybe 30 mins).

I obviously had no idea of what was going on as I was put to sleep but wasn't in any pain after. I did have a bit of bleeding after, although, it had stopped by next day. Again I don't know if this was laparoscopy that caused bleeding. Probably not very helpful sorry! I reckon it wouldn't be worse than a smear.

It's cool what they see though. On the videos inside the uterus was very pale, like skin. I was expecting it to be all dark and bloody. And they can see the entrance to your tubes and things - they looked like nostrils lol

Lou I'm going to ask the lady who does my colposcopy what she thinks re anesthetic, I'm sure I'm not meant to be having any though!

Maybe it won't hurt then? Maybe those giant metal poles just slip right in...
