Which milk? Formula

He was on SMA gold from day 5 and was fine, untill he was 11 days old he never done a poo, and was very crying, and not settling. I immediately thought he was constipated (stupid health visitors fault) he did a poo but it was like play Doh and very dark.
So we switched to aptimil, and he's only sleeping for 2hours really on it. And very sicky. He was never sick on SMA. I told health visitor today and she said all 1st milks are basically the same, and just coincidence he's been sick since on aptimil. And that if it was the milk making him sick, it would be every make of milk. Maybe he's just being to greedy.
But I feel the aptimil is a bit runny for him.
Have any ladies any advice about formula? What worked? Should I give the SMA another shot? As health visitor also said not to worry if he didn't poo for 1 day.
I'm so confused.

I have had my little man on cow and gate first milk and he was fine for first 4 weeks but kept getting trapped wind and was trying to feed every hour to hour and a half an was making himself sick because he couldn't physically fit the amount he needed in his tummy. I moved him on to hungry baby milk. Best thing I ever did no more sickness going at least 3-4 hours between feed, no constipation and a happy contented little man who takes just shy of 5oz. This has meant a happy mummy lol xxxx

I've always used Cow&Gate with no problems. Hope it all gets sorted soon x

Hipp organic is brilliant as it contains probiotics which can help with gas, wind etc

Cow and gate. Never had any problems. He was breast feed for first 14 weeks.

we was on cow n gate, then apatamil (which was worse) then to docs now on SMA LF

but my cousin baby was on cow n gate as all her babies had it but her LO kept being sick so she changed brands and was fine, i cant see how the HV can say there all the same as there obviousy diff to be diff prices etc!! it obviouly just doesnt suit him, SMA do a comfort milk which helps with constipation xx

Aptamil comfort milk is supposed to be kinder to little tummies as the curds are a lot smaller making them easier to digest. It also helps with colic and constipation too xx

I use this still, we tried apitmal and she was sick on that so switched to hipp at 5 weeks and never looked back

Yes the comfort milk is a first one. I found my LO was very sicky on aptimil then we moved to the comfort as she had colic too but it made no difference. She's now on Cow & Gate Comfort milk and was a million times better.
I don't think all formulas are exactly the same. I've found a lot of people have said that certain brands don't agree with their LO's while others do x

We used hipp organic as SMA and cow and gate made DS sick and his colic got worse!

Both my kids have been on SMA James still is never had a problem with either boy. I believe some babies suite some milks better than others x
