Hi ladies I'm new to posting in this section.... Hubby and I have been trying for baby no. 1 for around 3 years now (with a couple of little breaks in between). OH has had his SA test and is 'normal'. I've had all the bloods, x-ray and SALP and all 'clear/normal'. So we are now being referred for IVF (I'm 35)

My question is how long does this usually take?? (from referral to treatment) I'm under the Epping Forest PCT

Also is clomid classed as IVF? Someone suggested that it may mean that clomid is my next step before actual IVF treatments.....

x

I don't know anything about IVF but I would expect that if clomid has been mentioned they may try you on this first to see if that helps. Clomid can be used in IVF so help you produce more eggs.

Sorry I can't be of any help! x

Clomid isn't IVF but it might come under the assisted fertility umbrella where you go for your referral/treatment. Depending on your case you may be prescribed clomid as a first step and it either helps make you ovulate or enhances ovulation if you ready ovulate. You may then be offered iui before IVF, again can depend on your case and pct. it all takes a while but as you've had all the tests things might happen a bit quicker. Fingers crossed for you xx

Thanks Dee28, thanks Belfa. Hopefully the wait won't be too long. Still hoping for a BFP in the meantime x

And you could try IUI before IVF as its much less invasive and works for some people.

I've received my IVF application letter! I'm so excited!!

I've chosen my preferred centre, so now it's just a waiting game.

That's great! Hope you get an appointment really quickly.
