What would you do?

Last week my consultant told me the baby was 2/5 engaged.

I have another appointment with him tomorrow night and he has told me that he wants to do an internal so as to see how things are going. He has already told me that if my body is ready, I can have a sweep if I want one.

What would you do?!

I don't want to have to be induced if I can help it later on. A sweep is just a nudge in the right direction....right?

I'm so unsure.

My midwife won't touch me to term even then I.dobt think she will. Useless springs to.mind.

I would have a sweep it will only kick start things if your are ready to go. I had mine yesterday and nothing so obviously my body is not as ready as I thought it would be. I am 2/5th engaged and 2cm dilated with soft cervix, i will know more tomorrow when i have my next sweep if anything more happened since yesterday, but it cant do any harm.

Time to officially start bricking it! My appointment is not until 9:15pm tomorrow night. It's going to be a long day. I am dying to know what way things are. If we are good to go, I will most likely go for it. Need to mentally prepare myself....

how are u all getting offered sweeps... Inever with my first wonder if i will with this one nearer the end. When do u usually get it done?

I haven't been offered hun and very much doubt my.midwife.would.do one she doesn't even like checking urine in her.words incase someone has.wee ed on it... my word sometimes I do wonder x x

I'd definitely go for it. If your body is ready it will kick starts things anyway.

We only get offered sweeps here at 40 + 7.

Jess are u serious? Your midwife sounds like a prick. I used to screw about mine cos she was always on annual leave or 'ill' but I've seen her three times in a row now and I always leave her feeling encouraged. She sympathises with the fact ive been in latent labour for 3 weeks and wants to help move it along that's why she said she'd sweep me at 38 weeks. Xx

Take it! Defo take it! I would literally pay someone to give me a sweep right now. Im at the point were I can't even go to the supermarket anymore because of the pain in my pelvis. Just tried to go for a wander around the retail park and it near killed me, so I'm not leaving the house again unless its for medical reasons!!! x
