Which vitamins is everyone taking? I bought the Pregnacare (sp?) ones, I haven't had an antenatal appt or anything yet, so nothing has ben suggested.

ive only taken folic acid as i have quite a varied diet i dont need any extra
i dont think they recomend you take anything unless you are a veggie or alike
i think pregnacare pretty much covers it all

I'm not taking any. Only my Folic acid which has a calcium and vitamin D supplement in also.

I spoke to my GP about it and she said as I was eating a well balanced diet, the baby was getting all it needed from that. She said they are not needed if on a well balanced diet. So unless I become deficient in something, I don't plan on taking any at all until the later stages when I'll boost calcium and a few other things.

Fwiw, I have cut out *all* caffeine, drink plenty of bottled water with a higher magnesium and calcium content. Drink at least 1/2 pint of milk a day, eat wholegrain cereal and bread only. Olive oil spread in place of butter, no salt added to any cooking, lots of fresh fruit and veg (more than the 5 a day) and protein from lean meat etc. I also eat the recommended fish intake each week.

my diet isn't great, and i haven't made any changes as of yet apart from stopped caffeine, alcohol, salt.

i read somewhere that your body will only use the vitamins it needs and will flush out the excess so i think i will keep taking them if they aren't doing any harm, they also have the correct amount of folic acid.

any other tips of nice easy changes i can make? i've found that i go to make something and it just doesn't taste the same :( i really haven't had a meal which i've REALLY enjoyed the last couple of weeks

Im only taking folic acid - i did take pregnacare for a while but found that it made me constipated so the midwife suggested just taking folice acid. I have a pretty balance diet so she didn't seem that concerned x x x

changes ive managed to make are swapping foods for something similar but nicer and better for you and baby
for example instead of chips with salt and vinegar do mash with cabbage in (trust me its beutifull)
or instead of pie for dinner do veg gravy and a bit of cold cooked meat again lovely and so much better for you

I take Sanatogen Pro Natal, with the Omega 3 supplement. I do have a healthy and varied diet but feel that by taking the supplements I can be certain my body is getting everything it needs. I've been taking them since way before I got pregant anyway, (for the folic acid).

I did find that during Tri 1 I did feel quite rough for most of it and apart from not fancying most foods, half the time I couldn't face cooking. During these times it was reassuring to know that if I'd had a bad day for eating, the supplements would kick in.

I am taking folic acid - got a prescription for it from the doctors

I take pregnacare because I am/have been very sick and eating has been a problem. MW said it is fine to take.

Im taking pro-natal.I was very anaemic in my first pregnancy so wanted to be sure this time and as i havent been able to eat meat for the past 6 weeks due to baby not liking the thought Im carrying on taking it.I was also told what your body doesnt want it will flush away and my midwife says im fineto carry on. I think everyoes different arent they as everyone has different diets etc
