i had a c-section, so will they want to look... up there? haha, or will they just check my wound?
i also had a fissure, will they want to look up my bum? i want to prepare, haha.

will i have to take zach, or is this one just about me? anything else i should know?

The dr didn't do an internal at mine. She checked my scar and asked me how I was feeling. I asked a few questions about being sore when I poo'd and SPD and that was about it.

Molly got a check on the same day but I don't know if every doctors does this. I know my sisters doesn't but my surgery gives the baby a 6 week check too - the same check they do in the hospital when they're born - hips, back, eyes etc.

Not sure about looking up your bum though

Hmm my doc took my BP and asked how I was feeling and if my pills were helping (antidepressants) and that was basically it lol!
They have never looked 'downstairs' lol But i guess they would want to look at your scar

Mcnicky, my docs do an 8 week check on baby! They have it when they have their first set of injections!

Oh and they might want to look at your bum if its still causing you problems!

they didnt look down there on me, they just talked to me, checked my tummy, i had stitches due to forceps & they didnt check them either
i had to take summer and they just give her a quick check over

Seemed to be more about babe than me!....although i had seen same doc only a week before due to c-section infection :( Checked babe's eyes, hips, shoulders (i had been worried about clicking), asked about feeding, looked at red book etc. She had another check of my scar, but as i said, had only seen me the week before.

my doctors do that too, they told me that all GP's do that now, so i'm guessing i won't have to take him.

All they did with me was check my BP, they didn't even check my scar! Amber had a complete health check though, doctor examined her for any heart problems, clicky hips, reactions to sound etc

My 6 week check is on the 30th of this month and its a double appointment for me and Blake, i would take Zack with you just incase

Yeah you should get a slip in the post, I *think* its a pink one! Yellow for his injections!? Could be the other way around haha

For you ladies who had baby checked at 6 weeks, in your red record book, does it have a section which says 6 weeks check?
See here its always been at 8 weeks and in the books it says Health review at 8 weeks? (just out of interest lol)

Mine says 6-8 week check. It seems to vary by surgery here by sisters does an 8 week check with the immunisations and mine does a 6 week check with the post natal one.

At my 6 week check (which was actually at 8 weeks!) it was just a discussion with my doctor about how I was coping and feeling. She offered to do a smear and internal but I was still a bit sore so I declined. I had been cut so I had stitches but I had no problems with them and my midwife checked them on her last visit and said they were healing good so my doctor didn't need to check them.

Aimee had her check with a different doctor exactly on 6 weeks and he just checked her joints, asked if there was any problems and gave me more information regarding her immunisations.

It's totally different everywhere! I had to make my own 6 week appointment and she just checked I was doing OK, took my BP, asked about contraception and asked if my stitches were OK. Becky's appointment at 8 weeks came through automatically though it was closer to 10 weeks she had it at. She told me to wait until at least 12 weeks before a smear because apparently that early they regularly come back with iffy results. Many people need to get them done again anyway so at my surgery they don't do them at 6 weeks after birth.
