For those of us due in December or before, what on earth do you buy for a ??day old baby?

This LO is due on Dec 10th, although my dates and both scan dates say Dec 7th. DD was prem, so it could well be born mid-Oct, but it may be late and I'll be induced on Dec 22nd.

Anyway, What on earth am I going to buy it for Christmas? And what will Father Christmas fill its stocking with?

I know I'll need loads of stuff and could just wrap it all up but we have a 9yr old DD, so have to make an effort for her sake really.

I think your baby will be the biggest Christmas present you will ever recieve. Babies honestly don't need half the stuff us Mummies buy them (take it from me, there's nothing baby stores sell that we don't have and we use practically none of it) even fancy outfits come second to practical baby grows etc!! Anyway why not think about a nice keep sake rather than toys/clothing etc, a first Christmas tree decoration, an engraved moneybox or something, you could even get it after Christmas as you'll find you will recieve thousands of gifts from friends, family, neighbours, work collegues etc at the birth anyway...almost 3 weeks on were still recieving gifts and I'm still having to write thank you cards!!

well im due 27th december i just hope i dont have to have my xmas dinner in hosp! :shakehead: :shakehead:
damon was born november 11th and i decided to splash out a bit on the play gym/mat i got and put that away for xmas - i wrapped it up just for the xmas feel and i got some fab photos!

You could get "baby's 1st christmas" bibs/towels/stocking etc? ;) PM me if interested lol :)

Tia was four months old, during her first xmas. We brought her presents, but she really wasn't that interested and we had to open them for her. She loved the xmas tree lights though...she thought they were fabulous!

My mum brought a "baby's 1st Xmas" outfit for Tia, and brought it for a 9 month old so she would "grow" into it. To which I reminded my mum was silly because it was a winter outfit, to be worn at her first xmas, and she couldn't wear it in the summer/spring when she was 9 months old. She wore it anyway.. with the sleeves rolled up :rotfl:

I'm due in January, but if the baby is big I've been told they might induce before then. Spanish xmas is the 6th of January, but I won't be buying anything for this one... It not worth it... he won't remember, and he won't care. Next year, when he's one.. I'll make up for it and he will be so much older that he will appreciate it more.

tbh id just get little things, if i was having a baby in december,

Jay is due like next week, and like, he will be 3 months old, ill buy him little things but he ist going to remember it is he :| so theres no point in getting much, as long as he has something and i can cry when i give it to him lol. then its alright :)

I've decided that I am going to start Christmas shopping for family and friends at the end of this month as I'll just be too busy and don't want to wait in the long ques.

As for buying baby some pressies.........I'm stuck. xxxx
