I've had a funny week really and - I thought it would be interesting to share some of the weird and shocking comments youve had whilst pregnant.

This week ive had:

1) I take it congratulations are in order, how far gone are you?
2) I can't believe you're pregnant, you carry it really well and dont look it at all.
3) Are you going to call your baby Jesus ? (due on Xmas day)
4) I cant believe your'e having a child, youre only a child yourself ( :x i'm 26 - this did upset me)
5) I take it this wasnt planned ? (yes "he" was actually  )
6) Oh dear, well at least you can have Xmas dinner in bed
7) Have you been to the dentist yet ? (what a weird question to be asked)
8 ) Why did you decide to have a baby - what a waste of your life !

This week is the first week anyone has really commented about my pregnancy and it seems that people just say what they want - very strange !

Anyone else

In my case a lot of people came up with the "that can't have been planned" comment. I think one of the reasons is that I'm very career-oriented and people often still don't think that you can have both. Well, I don't see a reason why I couldn't.
Unsurprisingly noone said the same comment to my partner.

yep i think because of the age gap between my youngest and this baby (about 15 months) people have assumed that this baby wasn't planned. that she was an 'oopsie' and im like, no not at all, we planned to have them close together, I dont get what is wrong with that!!!

1. you have got your hands full already why have another
2. are you a childminder, surely they are not all yours
3. you must have been really young when you had your first(no i was 20)
4. you cant have much longer to go (im not that big)
and there are so many more things people say to me too and some really upset me especially when its family

1:- is your partner happy? (ermm yea, why wouldnt he be?)
2:- ooo is it twins? (ermmm no)
3:- ooo you must be due to drop (ermm in three months yea)
4:- gosh you are big for your first (is there a rule on size now?)
5:- you are carrying big..you must be diabetic (!!!)
6:- you getting married before baby is due? ( we in the 1940s?)

1. Also had are you getting married before the baby comes....im 32 with a ten year old son from a previous relationship and only just divorced from ex husband.

2. My gran quote " oh lynne why did you do that you were just getting your life together", also im 32 have my own house and a flat have been employed in a good career since i was 18 and have enough money to feed clothe and take my son on holiday every year !!!!

3. "Your huge" - my personal favourite

1: That was quick ! ( had miscarrage in April , was pregnant straight after first AF )

2: God you must be fertile !

3: So when are you finishing work, and going to be a full time mum ( Im going back full time, needs must )

4: Thought you didnt like kids ( just coz I waited till I was settled and happy and over 30, and the person that said this had there first when they were 18, so think Im past it ! )

No more yet ! but not everyone knows Im pregnant ! so sure more to come ! LOL

If 1 more person asks if its going to be called Jesus or Mary im gonna slap them

I've had countless comments like:
'do I congratulate you?'
and 'was it planned?' and now we know what team we are it's either:
'ooh. you'll end up with a football team' or 'aww, shame it's not a girl isn't it?'
Another popular comment is:
'you'll have to stop spoiling Ricky now there'll be another one' if playing with your baby and putting him first is 'spoiling' him then I'm doomed!!

lol! glad i'm not alone! Seems people can say what you want when you are pregnant! So far I've had...

1) wow you're big already, are you eating too much?
2) Are you sure its not twins? (YES totally sure!)
3) I thought you were going to get married first, are you going to get married before the baby is born?
4) But you're so young (not at 26 I'm not!)
5) Well Done! (WTF? Have I won something?!)
6) Have you had any cravings? :bored: (noooooo!)

i'm sure there is more.....and much more to come! :rotfl:

lol - I love that. I find men say that to me cos they don't know what else to say!

I haven't had all that many strange comments, probably cos I'm not showing but if one more person tells me not to keep my pram in my house I am going to go postal on them!

yup! its been men that have said that too me too!

Maybe they see it as a sign of machoism being able to reproduce! or "super sperm" as my OH put it... :rotfl:

I haven't had any really horrible ones but once you've heard the comment half a dozen times it gets annoying!

"Ooh you've got bigger" - erm yes, that's what's supposed to happen!
"Ooh you're carrying nice and neat" - is this a good thing?
"Is everything going well?" - this is meant to be nice but is annoying because no-one wants to hear the real answer of all the aches and pains etc so I just answer "yes thanks"

The "well done" comment always puzzles me. As if having had unprotected sex is a huge achievement.

I think the one i get the most is...
dont you have a tv then?

I expected more that I got really. Because of the short age gap I thought there would be more comments than there have been - I think I give out a vibe that stops (some) people being rude to me.

Most common ones are - ooh that'll be hard. (having an 18 month old and a newborn)

When are you due? - and looking shocked when I tell then I still have 4 months to go.

Congratulating me like crazy for having a girl and a boy - like I had won mastermind or something!

Prize goes to my mum though. The background to this is that I am the third of 4 children, the first 3 being girls. When I told her bump was a boy she said "Oh you clever girl - It took me 4 ttempts before I hit the jackpot!!"
Thanks Mum - love you too!!!!!

I haven't had too many wierd ones yet, not really showing yet though so am awaiting a few of the little gems you lot have had!!

Had a lot of:
- are you going to find out if it's a girl or a boy?
- are you having any wierd cravings?
- are you getting married before or after? (engaged currently to OH).

My OH has had loads of the 'Well done' comments from his mates, i think it's definitely a macho thing.

Also his female boss said to him, ''you realise everyone in the office will now know for definite that you've had sex at least once'' :rotfl: :rotfl:

The one that annoys me most is
I guess you are wanting a girl this time then?

Erm no not really 2 boys would be just as lovely

If you do have a t.v-when do you get to watch what YOU want?!
Sorry, bet you hate that type of comment, it's just that i have to make an appointment to watch t.v now, so goodness knows how it'll be when the men well and truly take over!
