Hey ladies, I need somee advicee really. I have SPD (symphasis pelvic dysfunction) and I'm wondering what the best option would be for me when I go into labour. The midwife has reccoommended a birthing pool, but I'm not sure if that will be enough.

Do you have SPD and what have yoou been advised to do? Or maybe you've been in labour wwith SPD and can recommend a particular way? Xxx

you can have gas and air whilst in the pool and if you feel you need stronger stuff you can always get out and ask for stronger stuff depending on how far into labour you are :)

I've got bad spd and have been told that providing I go into labour naturally, that I can use a pool, which I would love to do. And entonox (gas and air).

I just had entonox the first time round. No spd then.

A friend said giving birth on all fours can help. As long as they know what your probs are, they should be able to help you with positioning etc.

what do you think you'll do if the labour doesnt come on naturally for pain releif etc? xx

There was a similar question asked awhile go which was answered by a lady on here who suffered with horrific SPD throughout her pregnancy.

If I remember right she said during labour she had no pain from SPD only actual labour so, for her at least, she did not need pain relief for her SPD just her labour! I honestly can't remember what pain relief she had if any at all tho sorry!

xx

Hey Hun, I had spd with my previous pregnancy, was quite bad, was on crutches. I was worried too about labour, but i had no pain from spd, just the actual labour....I used the birthing ball although I was determined I'd use the birthing pool....but just didn't have energy to go into the pool....don't worry too much about it
