What mattress to buy?

Well basically i was going to be buying a cot package that came with all th different bits and bobs such as mattress etc, but last night dad came home with a cot for me...

What kind of mattress would you recommend?

also what are they pillow things to help prevent "flathead syndrome"?

when i bought a mattress for my cotbed i just measured it and went into mothercare and asked for 1 that size
not sure about the other thing for preventing flat head syndrome but then i wouldnt worry about it as it goes anyway when the baby gets older my friend has twins and the 1 had it and the other didnt but the one who did his head is correcting itself now hes 9 months xxx

we got a cotbed and got a mattress, the matttress is nearly as expensive as the cotbed!! we got a spring one as it lasts longer (for the cotbed duration)and has a wipe clean surface. the foam ones apparently are cheaper but aren't so durable and not so good for major spilliages!! shop around though as the prices vary considerably. we got ours in babies are us.
