What car seat?

I have been given 2 car seats from friends/family but would like to buy a new one for various reasons.

Can anyone recommend a good, easy to use, safe car seat for newborn baby size ? There are so many on the market now I am getting a bit confused.

(I don't need a pram or pushchair just the car seat alone)

They are confusing. I went online to the Landrover webiste to see what they recommended for the Freelander 4x4's which was a start. I took that list into Mothercare and spoke to a specialist in there...they really were helpful and I bought it that way. There is one that matches my pram but I was more intersted in saftey and a correct fit than whether it matched the pram or not...honestly he'll be in the pram more than the car seat anyway and we just bought a newborn seat, we'll get another one once he's not quite in the floppy baby stage anymore and will have more choice then. See what your car website recommends and speak to a specialist, it's the best way to go in my opinion. You can buy ones that are general but I found peace of mind knowing the seat we bought was specially recommended for our car type as seat widths etc vary from car to car. Good luck it is everso confusing I know.

Thanks Nicola that's really helpful. I never thought to look on the car site. I will check what Renault say before I go buying anything
