what can i do for agonising backache?

Have you tried any yoga positions? If you google them on youtube you'll see some videos that will show you what to do.

some one told me to get a birthing ball and just make circle movements with my hips and rock back and forth to try and ease the pain... but i didnt have one at the time! hope it eases for you hun x

Maybe stupid...but first thing that came into my mind was a TENS machine? It is for back ache and would come in handy for labour too lol. I am thinking about getting one when i can afford it xxx

Tens machines for back pain are totally different to those for labour, different type of frequency, have been advised not to use my back pain one when pregnant or in labour.

Have had back pain for years due to a weakened disc which keeps prolapsing, main things I can think of are warm baths, sounds strange, but a massage using something like a rolling pin can ease twingey nerves. Gentle movements can help, something like Kelly's suggestion!

Hope you feel better soon.

ive been in agony the last few weeks its horrible isnt it!?

Id see your doctor - im being referred for physio (although theres a long waiting list so i might be waiting forever, but its worth a shot)

Also my doctor told me to alternate between using heat like a hot water bottle on the back/hot bath and cold - so putting ice on it.

Other than that yeah maybe the exercises and the ball but sorry to say i think we will have it now untill the baby is here!! :-( xx

I had physio yesterday for back pain and pelvic girdle pain. One thing they noticed with me is at the bottom of my back is curving in from the weight of bump, she told me different things to help. One of them was when sitting on couch or seat, have a pillow or a rolled up pillow to support your lower back. Also when bending down to do things like housework and things go on your knees. She also gave me a bump support for when I'm walking. Xx

Emma youre so lucky to have got physio! The waiting list at my doctors is ridiculous! I feel like ive got the same problem as you - my back seems constantly curved at the bottom because the bumps so heavy, its really painful. I bought a bump support band from mothercare but it doesnt seem to help! x

The one the hospital gave me is rubbish, its ok walking but as soon as I get in my car or just have a seat it rides up and gets uncomfortable. I only waited about a week and a half for an appointment and apparently that was quite long to wait, I thought it was quick too. Its different here, I have a phone number in my pregnancy notes and I just call the physio and self refer myself. Is there no way they will see you sooner? Xx

unfortunately not, they said im a priority because its really bad atm but i dont think ill get seen before i have the baby! i guess it could be worse though, i just cant wait until after the birth!! x

That's ridiculous. You shouldn't have to wait that long to be seen. If your in pain they should be trying to help. You should maybe say to your midwife at next appointment and see if there's anything they can do. She gave me lots of advice but to be honest I find it hard to follow cos I need to change so many things like the way I sit on couch, the way I stand, the way I get off the couch, the way I clean. The list is endless! Xx

Yeah im seeing midwife on wednesday i will deffo mention it. Im walking like a cripple lol!

I do try and make sure i sit up straight and my posture is ok cos it does hurt less than when im slouching but its just bloody hard to do anything with a bump isnt it? x
