Well I went to the docs

Well I went to the docs on Monday and 2 be honest they werent much help! Explained everything to them and all she pretty much said was keep trying! As it hadn't been very long Anyways I consider myself lucky as I'm regular as clockwork with my cycles and af so today is day 8 and I'm starting smep, sticking to it properly this month!! If af appears again at the end of the cycle then it's back to the docs to ask for tests! Lets hope I don't have 2 tho xx

I've heard a lot of good things about smep Elen, fingers crossed it works for you Hun and you get your bfp soon. Shame the doctor wasnt more helpful though xx

I'm hoping smep works for me well she wasn't my regular doc, and I think she thought that a year(ish) wasn't that long to conceive. Xx

Easy for her to say! Good luck with smep anyway, I have sort of been following it this month. Didn't set out to but the pattern is there! Fingers crossed for both of us xx

Hey hun, i went to my doc end of april as it has been roughly a yr of ttc of us too and he is a lovely doc who i have seen loads about other health issues i have, and he said to me that it i normal for some couples to take up to 2yrs to concieve. He said he knows it must feel like forever but it isnt in the grand scheme of things and that we just had to keep trying!!

Having said that he has ran tests and apparently i do ov and now we are going to get hubby tested.

Fx you wont need to go back.

Id disagree with her on that.

Im sure she would if/when she has gone 12 months with no sign of pregnancy.

Hey i went to my doctors after a year of trying and he did blood tests, swabs, scans and arranged a hsg. How ever he did say to me that normally a couple would have to wait 2 years for tests unless they already have another child. Which i thought was a bit backwards. But he said if a female already has a child and hasnt conceived within the year then there is reason to believe something is proventing that, so they start the tests!

I already have a child from a pervious relationship and so my tests were started after the first year mark. I've now been ttc for 2 and half years! But i'm finally under the watchful eye of a lovely fertility specialist.

I would if i were you go back and see your normal GP he maybe able to send you for the bloods tests and scans at least and he'll be able to tell you if your ovulating!

Dont listen to the other doc....a year feels like a life time when your trying for something you want so badly

it really depends on your area as to the help you have, 3 years for me and i can have help until end of july as my miscarriage counted as my last pregnancy never mind the 2 years it took me to get there

I would have thought after a year they could at least start some basic tests eg sperm count for hubby and checking you ovulate? Can't you go back and see a different doctor?
