Oh, yes, it's me again with yet another reason i hate the Nhs!

Last thing i was told was that we were waiting for cystic fibrosis tests but we are also on the waiting list for funding.

The cycstic fibrosis tests are supposed to "take a while to come back" but definately before we would be at the top of the waiting list.

So... after 3 weeks i'm feeling a little paranoid that we are going to get to the end of the wait only to discover we weren't on the list at all so i contact the PCT so just vent my insecurity and ask for clarification the proceedure and that it is normal to be left so long without any contact.

They tell me that they need to forward my email to the hospital, but at least i'll have anything in writing and they'll be aware i'm not happy being kept in the dark.

Well, we get a phone call this morning.

"Hello Mr B, please can you confirm that you had some bloods taken for cystic fibrosis because apparently the sample they recieved didn't actually have any blood attached to it..."

So! Three weeks ago the lab recieved a request for blood work without any actual blood attached to it and did nothing!!! :wall2:

So, poor hubby is on his way now for more bloody bloodwork and i feel that we just lost the last 3 weeks

If they think i'm not going to make a stink about this then they got another thing coming :(

Oh my word! That's proper shoddy! I can't believe they didn't, at the very least, get back to you to say they'd made a mistake and they needed more blood! Ridiculous!

My gosh Louise, how bloody awful. Argh! I defo want to join the 'I hate the NHS' club. They're useless sometimes!!

Hope it gets sorted pronto for you hun. They need a massive kick up the arse! x x

Kick off, get them rushed through, they call it yellow dotting them, they come back in a week, I did that with my colposcopy biopsies.

Good Luck!

xx

Ofgs Louise, your nhs are absolutely useless, they never fail to amaze me  :-( xx

That's ridiculous Louise - grrrrr bloody NHS strikes again.................... ah if we had all the money in the world to go private. I like Maybe's idea of getting them rushed through - its the least they can do! xxxx

Thanks girlies, your the bestest

My mum and sister are nurses, so i know how hard some people work within the Nhs but the communication and proceedure is just a farse and i'm sure my mum would agree

I've wrote a complaint to the hospital on the website and if i still don't get a response directly from the hospital i'll be back onto the PCT.

I kind of have some good news off hubby since he got back, but in a way it makes me even more mad that it can change so much just with a little communication.

Hubby said that they apologised and blamed the lab. They didn't actually say that the new blood would be rushed through but they did say that we were already near the top of the waiting list so should be contacted within two weeks to confirm funding :)

So it's gone from 10 weeks to 5 weeks, assuming we get the result through in a couple of weeks :oooo:

I just can't get my head around why they can't know how quickly they can process patients, how many patients they have and then how long it would take for a new patient to be processed

Yay 5 weeks, that's great, so soon, I hope we get to be in tri 1 together! :)

xx

sorry to hear about that louise!! very shoddy indeed, gosh i bet you feel like following up on everything they do from now on!!!

great news that you are at the top of the list! fab!! xx

Flipping eck Louise it just goes from bad to worse!

At least you got abit of good news i suppose xxx

It just gets worse and worse with the NHS.
dont get me started with them!

Thanks ladies - it's so nice to be able to just vent and get some support *phew*

Tri 1 together would be fab Maybe :)

I really want to move on from TTC, but i don't want to be the only one that goes iykwim :eh:

What gets me is that there is no consistency in procedure between areas. Mine have been great with all my issues :eh: yours seem to bimble along between cock-ups!!! X

I know what you mean Princess  Some people have nothing but good to say about their Nhs treatment.

I sometimes wonder if it is actually because they are trying to empower the doctors more... I mean, they seem to be assuming that doctors are free from sin when some (many) are just egotistical assholes.

Thats the feeling that i got anyway, that towards the end it was the fertility consultant that was making the rules "one extra diagnostic" "3 month between appointments" "10 week waiting list" etc etc and he clearly was just playing the don because there wasn't any actual reason for them except for his say so.

I can't deny that i have wondered if he somehow made our blood sample disappear because i wasn't respecting his timeframe...

I wonder about conspiracy theories too :oooo: guess we'll never find out tho :-(

So sorry to hear that Louize!! You get them!!

Louise great to hear that the NHS are doing a swell job ....

I seriously question just how competent some of these pen pushers are ... if we screwed up as much as they have in our own jobs we would get our arses walloped, no other business would tolerate the amount of mistakes the NHS makes, I mean OMG there was no blood with the blood sample .... doesnt take a friggin brain surgeon to figure out what is wrong there, who do they have working there ... Homer Simpson!!! :wall2:

Sorry to steal your rant Lou lol

On a happier note, yay 5 weeks!!!

I work for the nhs, yeah it does have it's problems, every business of this size does, but I can tell you that staff are held accountable for their mistakes and action is taken. We have to have regular mandatory audits of our service and staff competencies and are very closely regulated by both professional and government bodies. The majority of us work 100% to bring excellent healthcare to this country. I'm not saying it's perfect by any stretch but I wouldn't swap our nhs for any other healthcare provider in the world. Private healthcare providers are usually made up of the same nhs workers, just waiting lists are shorter. It's unfortunate the the nhs is not supported by the funding and equipment it deserves x

Thanks Vicky, no problimo - it's frickin rediculous (i used the word rediculous in my complaint ;)).

Yeah, Cosmic, i already mentioned having family members working hard for the Nhs - my mum's a sister, been a nurse for over 35 years. I'm not sure she'd agree with you ;)

Maybe all trusts aren't as hot on this type of things as the one I work for then ;) x
