It's a long way off but I'd been thinking about this :) Has anyone had one? What was your experiences of them? x

hey, not had one but planning one! will let you know how it goes in a few weeks! to me, i just think it will be very relaxing and would help create a calmer environment to be in, for both me and baby, and hopefully partner will find it less stressful too! x

Im the same! I havent made a final decision as i wanna chat to midwife about it but i am pretty sure that this is what i want to have if i can. Nobody i know has had one, but on the end of Tuesday's one born every minute when it shows a bit of next weeks show there was a girl who is going to have one! Ive been youtubing videos but cant wait to see next Tuesday's programme! xx

yeah ill be watching one born every minute, on the first series last year this woman had one and it looked lovely! the baby came out screaming and she was handed the baby and it all just looked how i would potentially like it to be! X

Ohh Lexi you don't have long atall now! How exciting :D Hope it all goes well for you and would be lovely to hear!

I didn't see that there was a waterbirth on next weeks programme, will need to watch that. Hopefully she's not as dramatic as that girl who screamed the whole time on last weeks lol!

I just think the idea of a waterbirth seems so relaxing :) xxx

I want a waterbirth so I'll wait to here your story too Lexi! It just looks so relaxed for all involved.

I had a waterbirth 11 weeks ago and it was great id certainly do it again! i got to the hospital at 10.30am and was between 5-6cms dilated Tegan was back to back so i had horrendous back ache i got in the water and it was so relaxing and really helped with the pain i didn't have any gas and air till 2pm and Tegan was born at 3.58pm we stayed in the water for nearly an hour afterwards x

I would opt for a water birth, but after complications in my last birth I won't be allowed :0(
If I could opt for one, I would definitely choose to give birth at hospital for first time mums in case of complications. This way you have best of both worlds.

Sunnyb x

I am planning on having one! I have a phobia of hospitals so feel this will be the lesser of two evils as I wont 'feel' like I am in a hospital so much!

I didnt give birth in the water as my babys heart rate dropped for a while but I laboured in the pool and it was great would recomend it 100% its so relaxing and you dont feel so heavy so you can move around in the pool easily to get comfy the warm water is lovely I took some lavender oil to put in the water too x

I desperately want a water birth I just have to cross my fingers that there is a pool available when I go in!

i really want a water birth too. a parent at work had one recently with her 2nd and said it was so much nicer than the natural she had with her 1st. Im hoping no drugs either but i know ill probably end up screaming blue murder till someone gives me some! :D

i really really want a waterbirth hence my decision to have a homebirth and buy a pool to ensure I can have one.

Mrs_b yours is a very good idea :-) I have chosen to go queen Elizabeth as I wasn't confident about being at home! I hate that hospital but was worried about the journey to the other one! Cross your fingers for
Me that they are not awful!

I asked hubby about this the other day but he said what I was thinking, it's a long way to our hospital and with the 1st we are both going to be really nervous anyway, but for any others I think homebirth is the way forward!

Our hospital has 2 pools so fingers crossed

i really really want a waterbirth hence my decision to have a homebirth and buy a pool to ensure I can have one.

It's a great idea to have a home birth and buy a pool :) I'm the same as lauren though, because it's the first I would be too nervous x

id really like to have a water birth if not at least labour in the pool, im soo much more relaxed in water.. but im not sure if i would be allowed one? i had a premature birth with my daughter, but surely if i go full term i should be allowed one.. shouldnt i?

not sure kellyhook, but i don't see why not? if you go to full term then i dont see the problem, because your obviously not having another premature birth? just my opinion, im no medical expert haha :p hope you can get one :) xxx

I was just talking to my DH about this, and pointed out that if we can have one, he can fetch his trunks n get in the water too. He said only if he can wear a t-shirt. I am irrationally annoyed - it's ok for me to be in agony with all my bits on display and no frigging modesty, but god forbid he gets his belly out or feels mildy uncomfortable, grrr!

Anyway, I like the idea of a water birth more and more - especially compared to just laying on a bed, so will look out for other peoples (and Lexi's) experiences.

I would love one , but my hospital doesnt allow them . :(
