Our council changed the bin policy so this summer we all are being terrorised by blue bottles and fruit flies as if this wasn't bad enough we we'll mostly me am being terrorised to death by wasps! I was just in the kitchen holding my little man as a bloody wasp flies into the kitchen now it's made it's way upstairs I'm petrified I hate these little *******s!!! I can not deal with being stung I remember last time I got stung by surprise in my finger and all I can remember is the pain rushes going through me for hours and hours afterwards!!! Honestly I rather give birth to sextuplets than being stung I want to make a trap but I don't want it to attract more of these silly creatures! Anyone else has a problem with wasps? I've got a dog I can't use pesticides I don't want too much pesticides because surely it can't be good for LO.. :(

I just saw this, I have the best solution. I grew up in the country and we had wasp and bee nests in our trees and roofs, there was always one in the house in the summer, it was horrible.

This time of year they are really cranky because the fruit is starting the ferment, the pollen is lessening and the cold weather is setting in. They sting without provocation ( my 3 year old got randomly stung last week), so if they come near you they might be aggressive. Best thing is to set a honey or juice trap, it will attract them but only to the trap, and it'll kill the fuckers.

Cut about 4 inches off the top of a 2lt bottle (just below where it starts to funnel), pour honey, jam, marmalade, orange juice, apple juice or anything sweet and sticky into it- put loads in! Put the top back on upside down with the lid off and hide it in tree or garden as far away from your house as you can, just in case.
The greedy buggers will be attracted to smell, once they go down lid hole they won't be able to get back out and will eventually fall into sticky stuff or eat themselves to death.
Voila!

Good luck!

I once had a wasp invasion in my bathroom  there was a huge nest in the loft we didn't know about. For a period of about 3 days I'd come home from work and find easily 30-50 wasps on the bathroom window. The only way I could get them out safely was to Hoover them up with the pipe fully extended. Worked a treat and we went and killed the nest.
