Hi, I've been reading numerous threads on here about what vitamins people suggest and are taking, but there's so many and some threads were older and I'm so confused about which to be taking that I thought I would post.

Me and my partner are wanting to start trying for a baby and I currently don't take any multivitamin. I know Vitamin C and Folic Acid are two popular ones, but I'm not sure what else I should maybe be taking and why?

I've read that some who have taken one of the all in one pre-pregnancy vitamin's can alter your cycle etc which I don't want.

Any advice or links to other threads that I may have missed that are information packed would be really gratefully received. Thank you.

I've never known them to alter your cycle but pregnacare has everything you need. I currently just take iron with folic acid and vitamin D. Not sure about bit C

personally I've never had problems with a pre-pregnancy vitamin altering my cycle

I have tried:
Sevenseas Trying for a baby
Pregnacare his and hers conception
Tescos own his and hers conception

they won't get you pregnant but it's good to take them to make sure your body has everything it needs ready for when you do get pregnant xx

Personally apart from Folic acid which you should take, I try to get everything from good nutrition. Too many vitamins can put stress on yr system. I have oranges for vit C, a good balance of meat, fish and beans. Dark chocolate and cacao for magnesium, fish for omegas.. Sometimes I take spatone iron water. I tried Maca and felt panicky so stopped.

I agree with you sunflower, pregnant or not I eat a good diet with a good balance and loads of vegetables and fruit. I take folic acid on its own

I think if you just take a good prenatal vitamin (Folic Acid, Iron, Zinc, Magnesium, Omega, Vit C and your Vit B's) it should supply your body with essentials. Along with a balanced diet and some exercise like walking (or if you are more sporty, swimming, jogging etc) should keep your body in balance.

Currently I'm taking
Vit B Complex
Vit C
Calcium
Magnesium
Omega
Coenzyme Q10

The rest is up to God :hugs: FX for you :dust:

I've been trying to get as much as I can from a better diet. Still take a conception vitamin and omega 3. Think I'm going to stop everything else I've tried. Though still considering trying CoQ10. I've also never found that the vitamins have interfered with my cycle.

I have a ridiculously regular cycle, every 8th of the month and I started taking Seven Seas Trying for a Baby and never noticed any difference in my cycle, I take it and iron but that's because I'm borderline anaemic and my doctor is making me take the iron haha

Thank you all so much for your replies. I'm going to get some Folic Acid tomorrow and start taking that. So a prenatal vitamin with lots in it isn't really advised then? Just Folic Acid? I'm worried about doing the wrong thing. At the moment my diet isn't fabulous but I'm trying to change that. We both really do want a baby so much with each other. Not living together at the moment isn't great (long distance) but I'm wanting to move to be with him asap, and wanting to get my body ready for a baby.

Vitamin D too is a popular one to take and one that is recommended by midwives.

So Vitamin D as well, I work nights currently so am probably low on that anyway.

I've read that Coenzyme Q10 can help as well.

I'm just always nervous of taking too many things.

I was looking at the Seven Seas trying for a baby vitamin with some Q10 added as well. And been looking at the Pregncare. I just don't want anything to mess up my cycle.

Or do I just take Folic Acid and CoQ10? But Vit D is probably needed for me as well.

I really want to be with him for a month if possible next month, more time to try together, just accommodation up there over Christmas being an issue so expensive in Fife.
