Ladies, what do you take?

I'm currently taking Pregnacare plus but regret not buying max as it has added calcium.

Hi JustTrying,

I am taking the ASDA own brand 'Pregnancy Multivitamins' with Omega 3, simply because they have all the same things in more expensive brands have but half the price ;) I am such a cheapskate!

As long as you're eating a balanced diet, getting milk and fruit and veg, I'm sure you'll be fine with the vitamins you're on. They always say getting it from it's natural source is best, supplements are just to make up the gaps.

D x

you are right in everything you said.
I just forked out because I was rushing at the time and couldn't do a comparison.

One thing I HATE is milk which is why I think i need additional calcium supps.

I might just get the asda multis myself as im running out of current batch.

I take the pregnacare max for the calcium as well, as I'm a vegetarian who doesn't drink cow's milk. I get them from amazon for about £14 for a month's supply. Expensive though!

If you like orange juice, you can get some with added calcium, or you can try to eat more cheese, yoghurt or leafy greens if you like these :)

Why dont you go to Boots or Morrisons, they do a 3for2 offer?

Im not a fan of dairy and veg is a struggle. Im difficult lol

When I went last month they didn't have any offers, so I ordered from amazon. I've never seen the offer in boots? :O
I'll keep checking though!

I take folic acid, vitamin d and asprin. I dot take multi vitamin due to needing higher dose of folic acid (5mg) and asprin advised by reaccurant miscarriage specialist x

TesCo also do 3for2 I was on a asprin and 5mg folic acid and I was also on pregnacare at the start but due to the discovery of a gene disorder I had to stop pregnacare as it contained iron. I was told after tri 1 all you need is vit d and in tri 1 folic acid is the main one.

I'm taking folic acid and was given some other supplement by the midwife which I think was vit d and b

I take pregnacare max, i was annoyed in my first pregnancy when i kept finding a higher level vitamin and felt like i had to buy the best level each time... but im sure its just clever marketing. I went on to pregnacare breastfeeding after my son was born and switched back to max now im pregnant again. I get them 3 for 2 from tesco.

This time i was offered free vitamins from midwife but i think they might be quite basic...so i didnt take them. But im on prescribed iron 3x a day and prescribed folic acid all additional to my pregnacare! I'm vegetarian too and just gives me peace of mind on lazy eating days.

Ironically im not sure i actually buy into the vitamins market (apart from what i buy literally  ) im just not convinced they have the right balamce of vitamins that affect your absorption of others plus being in pill form rather than from a balanced diet? But im not a scientist and have no clue.

I take seven seas.. just because they were the cheapest lol.
I also take iron 3× a day and prescribed folic acid.

Also as extra I take 1000mg vitamin and 1000mg omega 3 :) x

Hey..just so you know, there are fish oils in pregnacare and most of tge vitamins. Xx

I'm on pregnacare max. I'm quite deficient anyway on iron and vitamin d so I'm trying to be as good as possible. Just looking forward to getting my bloods checked really! I know every time I get it for myself there's another thing I'm deficient in so I'm a bit worried about bean

Well in my last pregnancy I took folic acid until 12 weeks and then nothing basically. I wasn't told to take anything else. I tried pregnacare for a bit and was so constipated and it made me feel sick. As soon as I stopped I felt better. I'm 18 weeks and currently taking folic acid and vitamin D (prescribed vit D)

How long do you need to take folic acid for? I've got a few tablets left. What benefits are there of taking it after 12 weeks? X
