Is anyone taking vitamins or tablets to 'help' with conception or any ones partners?
Was just having a look around online and came across them, do they actually work?
I was looking at the Vitabiotics Pregnacare Conception tablets, are these ok or is there better ones? Is anyones OH taking any? I dont think my DH would be up for it though lol.
Also, it said there is folic acid in them but i thought that was only to be taken when you've conceived? Help?

I thought I'd got boots conception ones, it turns out I'd got pregnancy ones. I conceived, I'm not sure if that helped me or not xx

Hi

You should take folic acid before you conceive, ideally for three months, as this is how long it can take to have an effect. I find Boots Pre-Natal and Pregnacare Conception to be the best. Boots are cheaper, so I only get Pregnacare if they're on offer.

My DH won't take them either. In a perfect world, they'd be on them too but we can't make them.

They won't 'make' you get pregnant but they are something you should be taking as you need the vitamins within them. And the vitamins can make, for examples, your eggs to be healthier or your hormones to be more balanced, which increases the chance if you getting and staying pregnant. It also reduces the chance of any foetal abnormalities should you get pregnant (with the folic acid).

Hope this helps. X

Thanks!
I think im gonna buy the pregnacare conception ones. I said I wasn't going to do all of this until next year! I mean i only have 1 cycle to go until next year but I really don't have patience xD

I take vitamin D, vitamin B complex ( all B vitamins), zinc and folic acid.

I also make pea protein powder smoothies every day.

Now I'm thinking about getting some pregnancy vitamins. Will do the research today. x

Hi, as phonixgirl said folic acid should be taken at least 3 months before TTC to give it a chance to work.

I take Pregnacare, my DH takes a multivitamin (he wasn't keen on the idea either but I force him to take it lol), I also take herbal supplements to help with my PCOS.

We are under the fertility clinic and a condition of us getting treatment is that both myself and my oh take conception vitamins. He takes the Wellman ones (he tried a couple of other types and said they were 'yukky', men!) I take whatever is on special offer but I like the Seven Seas best.

We are also under the care of a fertility clinic. Although it's not a condition here, they do ask if you're taking conception multivitamins and that they include folic acid. So I'd start them ASAP.

Along with what I said before, I am on extra folic acid and calcium supplements because other medication I take reduces its absorbancy. Before my IVF cycle, I was also taking extra supplements for PCOS. Xxx

I took boots own brand conception vits, then moved on to boots own pregnancy vits. I didn't get on well with seven seas - made my skin awful! and Pregnacare I have heard make people feel sick? I took folic acid for a year before I conceived. My OH didn't take any vits to help us conceive, if your hubby will then great, but don't force him unless you are having fertility probs maybe?xx

Lol, im not forcing hubby to take them. I asked if he was willing to, he said straight away no, I tried to convince him but he really does hate taking tablets! We got pregnant before without taking anything, so hopefully ill get a sticky bfp this time around! :)

I am just on regular FA atm but luckily OH takes good vits as part of his MMA, none that affect TTC - I think certain centrum ones do? but hes just a variety of multi vits.

No wonder I got pregnant on the coil, him and his super sperm.

xxxx
