Very Scared :(

Do you know what your levels came back as hun? I had this diagnosed a couple of weeks ago and the decision has been made to induce me Tuesday at 37+1 (this is not the only complication and i was high risk anyway)

I have twice weekly fetal monitoring that was upped to daily at my appointment yesterday, this was because the vitamin k and acid tablets i was prescribed did not bring my levels down, they went from 75,90,95,125.....

Have you been given any meds at all?

xx

Hi hun, i was given vitamin K and another tablet that's supposed to help with the itching. The problem was with my bile acids (which were at 19 - not sure what that even means?!) not my blood. For the moment they are just monitoring my blood weekly but depending on the consultants opinions, they may decide to induce me at 38 weeks. Just gotta wait and see what they say. Was your problem with the blood or the bile acids do you know? xx

My bile acids came back at an ok level - i think they were 9, it was ALT that was elevated, apparently the bile acids can pretty much stay consistant so that's prob why they are retesting your blood.

the acid tablets i got are ursodeoxycholic acid tablets, apparently this is a 'god acid' doesnt feel good with the bleeding heart burn it gives, initially i had to take 6 tablets per day, im now up to 14, i feel absolutely fine in myself so its strange really. I also had a liver and gall bladder scan and a hepatitis blood test to rule out any other causes of raised levels - these all came back fine so thats when OC was diagnosed.

xx

Yes i'm on those tablets too, only 3 a day at the moment though plus one vitamin K. I had bloods taken yesterday to rule out any other conditions and i have to go back on monday for some more. Feel like a frigging pin cushion!

OC is such a weird condition as they seem to know very little about it. They rushed me into hospital, scared me shitless and then basically tell me that they're not going to do anything other than monitor my blood. Obviously i'm glad that no major treatment or an induction is needed right now, but it's still worrying me. Will have to see what my consultant thinks about it all.

One other thing that has pissed me off is that the midwives who originally took the blood test for this never even bothered contacting me with the results. I had to chase them for 2 days because nobody got in touch with me and nobody was answering the phone. I'm the kind of person who doesn't usually stop calling til i get to speak to someone, but i can imagine some people would take 'no news as good news' and get fed up of ringing after a while. Just makes me wonder if i would have actually found out about this if i hadn't been so persistant. I know they're busy but seriously.

Anyway, rant over! xx
