Ive been reading the arrival storys and im absoloutly terrified

this is my first baby do u think i would be able to have a home birth? xx

Yeah id love to have home birth... but some people say if its your first you cant ... i would feel toatally much better at home as i have a strange fear of hospitals xxx

I had the domino scheme with my first which meant the midwife i saw throughout the pregnancy was the one who delivered my baby girl, this also means you don't have to stay in hospital, i was home within 4 hours of having the baby.

My second was a home birth, I really loved the experience, I stayed in my normal clothes until my waters broke and delievered the baby within 15mins. It was really relaxing, being able to wander around my own place, watch what i wanted and eat/drink what i wanted, not being confined to one place/bed really helped and i didn't need any pain relief.

This one has already been booked in for a home birth and when i went to see my midwife it turned out to be the one who delievered my first baby, so i'm not worried about the birth at all now!!!!

I hope you can get what you want, it's so much better to be as relaxed as possible.

im going to push for a home birth to aswell hun and hubby even said he might be able to cope with the blood and stuff if we are at home so its all good
manda xx

I think Valentine managed to have a really successful home birth for her baby just recently. It was her first.
Maybe it is worth pushing for if everything is going well in your pregnancy.

I don't see why not - my cousin just had her 1st little girl and was allowed a homebirth - of course these things don't go as planned and she ended up being taken into hospital anyway because there weren't enough midwives on duty to come out and do a homebirth and then there was meconium in her waters when they tested them so she had to have a C section anyway!

Did you read my birth story? I had my son at home in March and it was fantastic. He was my first baby and they had no problem letting me attempt a homebirth, all homebirths are attempted on the understanding that you can transfer to hospital at any point if there are any complications.

I can't recommend home birth enough, I really enjoyed my whole labour experience & am actually looking forward to having another baby!!!

If you want to read my story I'll go find the link.

Good luck whatever you decide, feel free to pm me if you have any questions, I'm more than happy to chat.

EDIT: Here's the link to my story if you fancy a read, it was all the way back on page 3 somehow (doesn't seem like that long ago!)

i think u should go with whatever feels best for you. however i must say...that mw's will not let u home birth if u are.. not confident in yourself.. shall we say..if u go in for constant monitoring coz u cant feel the baby move.. then mw's will think u wont tollorate labour well coz your not confident in your body. also a few things could stop you, high blood pressure, large baby and anything wrong with the baby.and post birth bleeding (heavy) and most previous c sections will prob not be able to have homebirths for genuine reasons on nhs. although previous c sections should be looked into more.. and if your baby and you arnt at risk u should push for it everything else.. your weight, not having enough midwifes on duty, etc should not stop u from having a homebirth, not having enough mw's is a load of balls..thats never the case..

i had a home birth and it was my first. dont be scared there are some really positive stories theres a link to mine in my sig.
good luck hope u get ur home birth xxx

edit: mention 2 ur midwife at ur booking in appointment so they can arrange it 4 u.

Aww thanks for all the advice and support its really great ive decided to have a home birth as i will feel so much more comfy at home im a big baby really i want my mum there and my mum also doesnt like hospital im going to tell midwife on monday..she may not agree but hey who cares they either be there for me wen im in labour or ill do it myself lol.

You know what i am so angry with my docs they said i have to go to the hospital to see my midwife and give her all my details and every check up and scan has to be at the hospital i was like u what??? are u madd?? theres no way im doing that ..a few years back people went to a our nice comfy local clinic for every scan.. so im not happy bunny  :wall: i will refuse to do that so they will have to go my way or no way xxxx

im terrified of hospital birth too, i dont think im going to tell anyone when i go into labour, i'll just keep nice and quiet and pretend i cant feel a thing then suddenly oopsie! theres the baby

I would really like a home birth , my friend has just had her second at home,

I live 16 miles away from the hospital though so would it cause a problem -

i booked for a homebirth for my first but had to transfer in for meconium. im booked for a homebirth this time so hopefully it will work out this time.
try the homebirth.org website its got loads of stuff on there.
there is alot of myths about homebirth this website challenges most of them.

i only have a birth unit where i live and my nearest hospitals about 18 miles away..so.. the way i look at it.. im closer to the motorway than the birthing unit is.. so if i need to be transfered to hospital im closer.. bingo..plus.. ambulance going 100 down the motorway.. ul b there in like.. 5 mins neway.. so dont worry..

i want a home birth, i wanted one with my third but my partner and my mum ganged up on me :( i,ve said the same about this one and again they are ganging up on me. i,ve heard that you can have a paramedics sitting outside is this correct!! my third labour me and my sister virtually delivered ourselves anyway as the midwife was so busy, so surely having a midwife at my home and the para,s outside is just as safe.

My MW told me she thought I was a prime candidate for a home birth. She lives 2 mins away too :)

I don't think I could do it though...mainly cos I live mid-terraced and with Brody I was screaming my head off LOL! 'd worry about the old guy next door, he's a right nosey so-and-so and gossips about everyone. He'd LOVE to tell me all about how he heard me screaming as I gave birth. Great.

That would make me want to do it more!!!

Yeah I fancy a home birth but my OH and my Mum (who will be the one holding my hand) are totally not up for it so I can't really go against their wishes. I'm hoping to be out of that hospital as quick as humanly possible though. My OH has instructions to pick me up and carry me out if they object this time! My sister in law just had her second and was out 6 hours later so I know its possible! I'm not scared of hospitals but it would just the most stressful least calming place in the world to be and I got kind of sucked into it last time for no good reason.

I wanted to be out quick with Brody but had the tear so was stuck in for 4 days :(
NOT THIS TIME!!!
