Ive just called my doctors to make a booking in appointment with the ante natal clinic and ive been told to phone back next week but that i wont be seen at least until the 2nd week of april,

how have some of you had scans and things at this stage and i cant even get seen at my doctors to tell them im pregnant!??!!
I cant even get on the list for my 12 week scan until i get seen....because the system doesnt know im having a baby!
its not even as if i live somewhere busy with thousand of patients registered at the same surgery.

its so annoying....what a load of pants.

i need some biscuits

Thats pants

all that i did at my local doctors surgery is made a normal every day appointment and then just told him that i was pregnant and he gave me a form which he filled in his details and i filled in mine and i sent them off!!!

i didn't go to the antenatal clinic first i automatically got refered there after sending off that form

hope this helps.

It's really annoying that we have to wait isn't it! When I called the surgery for my booking in appt with my midwife I had to wait about 3 weeks. I put my next appointment on when I was there, and I think that's what I'll have to do all the way through. Maybe you should ask them to call you if there's any cancellations so you can speed it up? Hope you don't have to wait too long

Thanks girls,

I know they wont even consider seeing me until im 8 weeks anyway (why.... i dont know)
but then finding out i cant actually get an appointment until ages after that really pee'ed me off!

it doesnt feel real yet because nobody knows and i just wanted to get the whole process started :|

I have found that my doctor and my midwife havent really done that much now, it all seems to happen in the future like as I am 'only' 11 weeks pregnant I am not that important :x

I just made an appointment with my doctor which was a waste of time, got told to make an appointment with the midwife and that was a waste of time again and then last week when I had my booking appointment, she just took my blood, told my DH to quit smoking and then sent me on my way!

It is very frustrating seeing as I am being guided by them as a first timer and not actually getting anywhere it seems!

I dont particularly care about how much doctor/midwife care i get through out this pregnancy (good job too it seems!)
this is my second and while im aware i dont know everything...i have done it before.
I just want to hear a heartbeat and go to the scans!

My sister in law wasn't happy with the hospital she had her first in and so went to another local hospital, asked to register there, bypassing the doctors and all that, got seen by a midwife almost straight away and had her first scan at 9 weeks so it may be worth just turning up at the antenatel unit and asking to register directly with them.

I have done this all before too quite recently lol so i feel more aware of what to expect this time. But basically so far I've done the same as last time, booked a regular appointment with my doc, told him im pregnant, he got me to take a urine sample and sent it off to be tested. I ring up for results which are possitive, receptionist then books me in with a midwife who contacts me 1-2 weeks later, and im having my booking in appointment today! they usualy dont see you til around 9 weeks. But last time they fudged up my scan appointment so i didnt end up having one til near 14 weeks, hopefully i can get one sooner this time :D

I'm in the same boat!

Found out I was pregnant at 7 weeks, handed in a sample and made an appointment with the GP for the following week.

At that appointment he basically said, yip, you're pregnant, make a midwife appointment.

So out to the the desk I trot, only to be told that the first appointment with the midwife isn't for 3 weeks!!!

So I'm now in pregnancy limbo - as it's my first I don't have clue what to expect, and I don't "feel" pregnant, so i'm "stuck"!!!

well, i have to admit to being a little bit sneaky....

I went into my doctors last week and said i needed a booking in appointment with the ante natal clinic, the receptionist asked how far along i was and i said "im not 100% sure" and she found me an appointment....
naughty i know
but i was worried about not getting my 12 week scan on time and seeing as ive known about this pregnancy from week 4 and the scan is the first time i will know if everything is ok, i think i deserve that much!

while i was with the nurse today, I admitted to my real LMP date but as we got to talking she recommended me going for an early scan for one of two reasons....
reason 1, she thinks its possible that i could be a LOT further on than i think, by a good 6 weeks, i dont see this as being possible... but im not going to argue with someone offfering me an extra scan!

reason 2, if i really am only 6w5d she thinks its possible there are twins in there!! OMG! how exciting!
so she said we should go along to the scan anyway just to see how many are in there!!

my next ante natal appointment isnt for another 5 weeks but the scan date could be anytime!
cant believe how well today went especially as i was so upset as not even being able to get in the door (with the other receptionist!)

Well done. By being sneaky you have managed to get the appointments that the rest of us wait patiently for. If you read everyone else's answers to your initial post you'll find they all had to wait patiently too. A big reason that people have to wait a bit longer than they expect to to get their 8, 12, 20 week etc appointments is because there is always someone who feels they are a bit 'different' and jumps the queue.

and if i hadnt of been TTC, knowing every detail of my last period, when i think i ovulated etc then i wouldnt have had any idea how far along i was, just like last time... i dont chart, i dont temp, i thought i felt the right pains at about the right time and assumed, as a matter of fact the last cycle before this one lasted over 40 days, the one before that was 34, so its not an exact science love.

saying "im not 100% sure" wasnt a lie, because im not.... how many people here go for scans or appointments and have to change thier tickers because the EDD changes dramatically?
as i said, my next appointment is not for another 5 weeks, and my 12 week scan will be after that so i wasnt expecting anything extra... i just wanted to get in the system.

I never said i was "a bit different" but as the midwife decided i have had 'accellerated symptoms' and that i was right to get checked out early then i did the right thing for my babies, and i dont care if people like you are stood tutting behind me in the queue.

you should be careful getting off that moral high horse in your condition.
