Hi! My hubby is from Uruguay, a Spanish speaking country, and he has Italian ancestry. Iæm from Norway, and we both live in England.
Finding names are sooo difficult!!
He really, really likes Valentino, and has wanted a son with that name for years. The first time he suggested it I laughed as to me it sounded quite stupid, in Norwegian it's quite a "posh" and pompous name. Of the 4.5mill people in my country only 10 people alive have that name..
But hubby really really wants it, and I feel bad to refuse it... We could for instance have two names, Valentino as one and then a name that is a bit more normal or accepted in Norway as a second name, and then our boy can choose when he grows up, or we can even "swap" depending on where we end up living.
Since we live here in England by now, the name also needs to work in English, so I would love to get some input from you guys on how the name is here? I'm guessing it will be a bit more acceptable than in Norwegian as this country is more multicultural?
I'm very curious to hear what the first impressions of that name is to people here!
Also.. he found out today that one of his friends in Uruguay who's also having a baby in February is going to call her son Romeo..
And his other even better friend who's due date is about a week after mine, in February as well, doesn't mind the name Valentino, and it's on the top of his wives list of names.. so hubby's worried that if we don't give it to our son now we won't even have the option if we get another son in the future I don't feel too comfortable about the name, but it's sooo hard to refuse it as you can tell it's a name he's wanted to name his child for so long..
Help!!
IN SHORT: Do you think Valentino is a good name or a bad name for a baby boy, and also, why?
Thanks!!
