Jake wears a disposable swim nappy with a happy nappy over the top. Girls can have a happy nappy or a happy nappy swimming costume. They are meant to stop any leaks and I havn't had any yet. You can wear them on there own without a disposable underneath but then you have to wash the nappy out afterwards which I didn't fancy doing. I actually posted a question like this a few weeks ago and somebody suggested the happy nappy's to me.

Isaac's daddy is taking him swimming next month, as baby classes start after the school holidays so not looked into swim nappies just yet as they all seem to be 3+ months, though our local baths have disposable ones for use in their baths, so yours might too? Look forward to hearing all about it V, I'm sure Ella will have a fantastic time

Dylan has a happy nappy and disposable too..I think he was about 12 Lbs when he first went swimming...Boots disposables are £2 cheaper than little swimmers and are from 15LBs .

Thanks girls - I think I'll go for a Happy Nappy swimming costume - it's a bit expensive at £15 and it will only last her 3 months - but only the best for my little girl!

I want to take her swimming in 2 weeks time and I don't think she'll fit into disposables by then (to wear underneath) so I'll just risk her wearing it as it is.

Thanks for the info and help - much appreciated!

The docs suggest waiting until after first imms to go swimming, I took Freya when she was 8 weeks and she only weiged 8lb 13oz, I brought a small happy nappy and used a small huggies little swimmer underneath, we had no trouble but the small happy nappy fitted quite well even though she was so small, just a thought!

Huggies little swimmers all the way! Easy on, easy off, no mess, just like a normal nappy.

Hi Ellie!

Thanks for this - I checked with the HV about this and she said she could be taken anytime as the imms don't immunise against anything that could be found in the pool - but now I'm unsure  .

Can I please ask all of you where you got a small enough Huggies little swimmer from? All I've seen are from 15/16lb and my daughter is currently 8lb 9oz.

Thanks everyone

Hi Valentine -

did you know that you have the same name as my Dad?

Anyway I'm sure there's a smaller one than that, if you look at the little size guide (I think there's one on the side of the pack) you should be able to ask your supermarket to stock them. Failing that, mothercare or just plain writing to Huggies, might do it.

First immunisations should be done before bringing baby to the pool hun, the nurse and doctor told me that here as well as the girl in the gym, she wouldn't let me bring her till she was 6 months. I think to be honest that rather than being scared of them getting diphtheria etc in the pool it's a resistance issue, they want their little immune systems to be as strong as poss.

Sue.

Hi Valentine, yeah they are the smallest little swimmers, if you put a happy nappy over the top it makes tem fit a bit better, Freya is only 9lb 10oz at the moment but this works for her. The other thing is we can only stay in for 10 minutes or so because she gets so cold!( not much meat on her!), but on the up side, she sleeps so well aferwards :D

i have a 'from birth to toddler' bumwear pocket nappy in yellow with blue piping that is great for taking rhys swimming. unfortunetly i cant take him now as our swimming pool def isnt suited for little babies (pool too cold etc) i can send it you if you like????

Thanks guys - there seems to be conflicting info but I think I'll take the advice from my HV and the NHS link that Gemma posted and take her in a couple of weeks - she'll be about 5 weeks old.
