Urchin's bank card fraud thread part 2

thats unbelivable, i cant believe some dumb*ss used their loyalty card too. that person must have something to do with it. did you say it took place at 7.30pm, is that during opening hours? cant believe the cctv ran out either, its not there to protect the company from theiving customers but staff too (as in this case!!)

hope you get compensation for this- if not go to watchdog lol

Also there was nothing on the CCTV, the tape ended before 7.30pm
 seems too convientient!

hope you get it sorted!

Blimey......surely they should have a procedure in place to tape during the day, and put a new tape in during the night....n case they get broken into etc

I agree with the others, it all sounds too convenient :shakehead: I think someone knows something & doesn't wanna tell!!

Seems someone really would have to be dumb or have balls of steel to use his own loyalty card. I agree with Urchin, it may just be an oppotunistic member of staff taking advantage of a large purchase from someone who didn't a loyalty card to bump up his points.

Unless he is involved and stitching up a colleague  Either way, Urchin got her card back so there's a cloned one out there. Question is, is the one you collected from the store the original or the clone?

You should go straight to the head office hun, go above their heads on this one. I cant believe they are so stupid to use their name and address etc along with stealing your card... as if you wouldnt know it was missing.

 xx

All the person had to do was damage the chip - and then when it was put in to the reader it automatically asks for sig if chip is damaged and then whoever used t has to say is "oh, it's been doing this all day, must call the bank for a new card" and just practise your sig before they go into the store... but to be honest people hardly ever check the sigs.

If the funds are there and it is a store you use ie you bought a game a coupke of days before, your bank will ok it... You can call your bank and say I want a limit on my card so it flags up again.

It wouldn't have been my sig on it anyway, I got my card back a month ago exactly, this only took place on Friday night.

Yeah I'll put a limit, I can't believe it wasn't flagged anyway, the limit I can get out of a cashpoint is £400, and thats WITH my pin, then they just let someone swipe it and give them 465 quids worth! Grrrrrr! I'd only used that shop (different branch) once before, to buy a £12.99 game a month ago.

sounds very much as if a member of management could of been involved with this, there are too many cover ups, for instance a colleague would surely know they were going to get caught on cctv but management has the access to the cctv tapes etc also the swiped points card thing ... if your stealing a card you are no way stupid enough to use a points card with your name on it, tbh i think its a member of management who has used it and used one of the colleauuges points cards to make it appear it was them, to many coincedences tbh

Yeah there's too many things like that TBH

I'm not happy AT ALL that they let it through on only a swipe, whether or not they are responsible for the fraud or not, for that amount of money I expect companies to be more careful with consumers cards!

no cctv, ouch something very fishy on this one huni, all i say is i would go further than what you have been doing so far, go head office, go police, What happened to customers privacy etc, i would be fuming, i can imagine you are as well though,

Hope you get it sorted!

i would go to the police or possible even trading standerds (maybe???). even if you get the money back some ones got away with a free PS or what ever and its made a lot of hassle for you and if they get away with it they'll do it again!! :wall:

Something sticks big time to me.

Theres too many mishaps for it all to be coincidental.

What are you doing about it now Urchin?

My forms have come today to fill out. There a few more sales gone through now, 11.40 to a supermarket I don't use, £20 at the theatre and £4 in the bullring again, possibly for parking.

I have to fill out all my info, will add what I know about the swipe and CCTV thing and that's it. I want to know who it was but I suppose the main thing is I got my money back.

OH! So someone is still using your card!!!

Good grief! I hope this gets sorted out soon, I would be going mental with the shop and kicking off bigtime..

Have you considered contacting watchdog? They would love a story like this!

Right, anyone want an update?

I rang the head office for "that" store today. I told them all my complaints and asked why they hadn't contacted me sooner like they said they would

She put me on hold and rang the Bullring store and was told the staff member had been fired and arrested!

I told her that I want something done, I don't care if he was arested or not, stuff like this should NOT be able to happen, a swipe should NOT be allwed through instead of a pin and WHY was he able to disable the CCTV?
I gave her my number and I'm waiting for a call back.

BUT cos he's been arrested, now I need an updated crime number to give to my bank  which I can't find out cos the police don't know it and they can't search for it. Head office didn't know it, and I don't really want to pester the Bullring store for it cos I don't want them to think I'm being nosey.

When the head office lady phones back I will tell her to ring the Bullring store and get it for me.

Well thats good news that he has been fired and arrested

But why on earth didn't they call you and let you know what was going on rather than you just waiting????

Incompetant springs to mind!

I'm even wondering if has really been fired and arrested. That's the other reason I want a crime number.

Just caught up on all this and it's shocking!
Oh it's made me angry now how can people get away with doing things like that?!! :x
I'd ring the store for the crime number s*d it if she thinks you are nosey!

yeah i agree ring the bull ring, you need that to claim your money back don't you? Out of courtesy they should have rung you to tell you all of this!
