livid - i'm changing nurseries

Something that the other nursery mentioned was that they were shocked that the 'baby room' was upstairs as it can be a fire hazard compared to older kids than can walk down stairs..

I just read the ofsted that was done in july this year and it says 'good' :?

you are so right to be angry hun we trust our children with other people in the knowledge they will be cared for adequtely, sending you and especaially ryan lots of love and i hope in the new nursery he and you will be happier xx

head injurys are serious, if he was knocked unconcious at all he should have seen a Dr we always admit patients for at least 4 hours (most of the time overnight) if they have been knocked out and especailly if they are vomiting.

OMG that is terrible

I am not surprised you are changing his nursery, I would be blazing.

Def contact Ofsted and make them aware of the ratio of adults to children and complain to whoever is in charge at the nursery. For him to be 'out of it' and them not contact you immediately is unacceptable.

  Hope Ryan is feeling better.

Did they have an evac cot? (it's a big cot you can put 3 babies in and carry them out) We had to get one at work cos even if you had the 1:3 ratio, how would one person carry 3 babies out?
It does sound weird about it being upstairs though :?

i agree with everyone else and that i would be changing my nursery asap. our nursery closes next week and i was also worried about how they would cope changing but both of mine did a day at their new nursery on thurs and had a great day so i feel a lot better. they are doing another full day this thursday and then they start on 12th nov. let me know how ryan gets on although im sure he will be fine .

hi i dont have any children just yet but work in a nursery. i know that they should have phoned you if he was out of it as that can be dangerous and the whole thing about puttin the baby on back is so wrong. better off taking him somewhere else its not on when hes your child and your trusting them with him x

That's terrible! The vomitting makes it sound like he had a concussion. This is exactly why I am scared to use any kind of childcare! :( I hope he's okay now.

 poor Ryan, hope he is better soon

I work in a preschool and we would call a parent asap if they bumped their head and actually ask them if they can come to collect them just so they can watch them, any changes etc. We too have an accident book which would be filled out straight away with dates/how it happened/witness etc.

Id be livid too if I were you, and dont worry about him changing nurseries, he is still a bit young for it to affect him so I wouldnt give that a thought, safety is the most important thing.I think you should definitely inform ofsted, they have to investigate EVERY complaint they get so they nursery would get a letter detailing the complaint, they wouldnt use your name or anything. Then they have so many days to respone, if you mention the other things that have bothered you about this place then they have lots of grounds for a spot check too. Let us know what happens and hope little man is ok xxxx

You have every right to feel like that..when I worked in a nursery, head injuries were taken seriously and the parents were informed ASAP, whether it was serious or not. Although accident forms were filled out for parents to be informed and signed, they're more to cover the Nurseries' back should the parent take it further. I think you're doing the right thing, what you've said sounds awful

F
Ditto what Poppy said. i work in a nursery and any injuries are reported to parents imediatly. For their to be 1-6ratio is also awful and unsafe. working in a busy nursery i know how manic they can be, but whats happened to poor Ryan and lack of staffing is not on! i am lucky enough to work in a hospital nursery, if this would have happened under our care Ryan would have been straight to up A&E. poor little sausage. i would defo complain hun! sorry you've had such a bad experience! x x x

thanks girls. he's coming out of the 'virus' now (still wont be in nursery tomorrow tho) but still really sleepy :(

is there anybody that might be able to help me write it all in a paragraph for a letter? i dont know where to start or what to place the most emphasis on..

the other thing I wanted to point out was that he's being moved down to the big kids room in my opinion a bit too soon just because they have a new intake of babies coming in. to me that sounds like they are placing the needs of money-raising before the personal needs of the babies they already have?

If you write down the basics, and any other observations you have noticed, eg like is the ratio normally better or were you already concerned? Then shove it in here and we'll have a look and help with the wording. :)
